Zusammenfassung: | "Focused on research within Africa and the African diaspora, contributors to this volume think through the painful iterations of trauma, systemic racism, and the vestiges of colonial oppression as well as the processes of healing and emancipation that emerge from wounded states. Their chapters explore an acoustemology of intimacy, woman-centered eroticism generated through musical performance, desire and longing in ethnographic knowledge production, and listening as intimacy. On the other end of the spectrum, authors engage with and question the fetishization of race in jazz; examine conceptions of vulgarity and profanity in movement and dance-ethnography; and address pain, trauma, and violation, whether physical, spiritual, intellectual, or political. Authors in this volume strive toward empathetic, ethical, and creative ethnographic engagements that summon vulnerability and healing. They propose pathways to aesthetic, discursive transformation by reorienting conceptions of knowledge as emergent, performative, and sonically enabled. The resulting book explores sensory knowledge that is frequently left unacknowledged in ethnographic work, advancing conversations about performed sonic and somatic modalities through which we navigate our entanglements as engaged scholars"-- |

The resulting book explores sensory knowledge that is frequently left unacknowledged in ethnographic work, advancing conversations about performed sonic and somatic modalities through which we navigate our entanglements as engaged scholars"-- Kritik (DE-588)4033229-9 gnd rswk-swf Rasse (DE-588)4048440-3 gnd rswk-swf Musik (DE-588)4040802-4 gnd rswk-swf Schwarze (DE-588)4116433-7 gnd rswk-swf USA (DE-588)4078704-7 gnd rswk-swf Afrika (DE-588)4000695-5 gnd rswk-swf Ethnomusicology Music / Performance / Social aspects Intimacy (Psychology) Africans / Music / History and criticism African Americans / Music / History and criticism Music / United States / History and criticism Music / Africa / History and criticism Music and race African Americans / Music Music Africa United States Criticism, interpretation, etc (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Afrika (DE-588)4000695-5 g USA (DE-588)4078704-7 g Schwarze (DE-588)4116433-7 s Musik (DE-588)4040802-4 s Rasse (DE-588)4048440-3 s Kritik (DE-588)4033229-9 s DE-604 Lawrence, Sidra (DE-588)1147611157 edt Kisliuk, Michelle 19XX- (DE-588)1291609636 edt Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe, EPUB 978-1-80010-953-7 Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe, PDF 978-1-80010-952-0 Eastman/Rochester studies in ethnomusicology 13 (DE-604)BV039870706 13 Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=034171182&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
