Teaching and Developing Writing Skills Teaching and Developing Writing Skills is an essential resource for anyone who wants to improve their learners’ ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in writing, which has become an increasingly important skill for the digital age. This book explores different approaches to teaching writing, offering practical guidance that is underpinned by background theory. Covering all language levels from Al to C2, the activities support and develop learners’ written communication skills. This enables them to effectively write for exams, share information and ideas in academic situations and the workplace, and navigate everyday situations such as completing forms. • Writing contexts, types of text and their communicative purpose provide the organising principle of the book, making material easily accessible. • Topics explored within include text organisation, specific genre features, stages in the writing process and evaluating and providing feedback on learner writing. • Activities are suitable for a wide variety of ages and teaching contexts, including English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP). • Activities embracing commonly used digital tools ensure writing tasks and genres used are relevant and up-to-date. • A dedicated chapter containing activities for teacher development, designed to develop excellence in the teaching of writing through collaborative activities and reflection. Craig Thame has worked in ELT for more than 40 years as a teacher, teacher trainer and materials writer in England,
Italy. Egypt, Sweden and his native New Zealand. During that time, he has been an assessor for CELTA and Delta Teaching Awards, and he has written a wide range of course books and teacher development materials.
