Zusammenfassung: | "Challenging narratives of Indigenous cultural loss and disappearance, This book highlights collaborative archaeological research and efforts to center the enduring histories of Native peoples in North America through case studies from several regions across the continent"-- "Challenging narratives of Indigenous cultural loss and disappearance that are still prevalent in the archaeological study of colonization, this book highlights collaborative research and efforts to center the enduring histories of Native peoples in North America through case studies from several regions across the continent. The contributors to this volume, including Indigenous scholars and Tribal resource managers, examine different ways that archaeologists can center long-term Indigenous presence in the practices of fieldwork, laboratory analysis, scholarly communication, and public interpretation. These conversations range from ways to reframe colonial encounters in light of Indigenous persistence to the practicalities of identifying poorly documented sites dating to the late nineteenth century. In recognizing Indigenous presence in the centuries after 1492, this volume counters continued patterns of unknowing in archaeology and offers new perspectives on decolonizing the field. These essays show how this approach can help expose silenced histories, modeling research practices that acknowledge Tribes as living entities with their own rights, interests, and epistemologies"-- |

These essays show how this approach can help expose silenced histories, modeling research practices that acknowledge Tribes as living entities with their own rights, interests, and epistemologies"-- Geschichte gnd rswk-swf Indigenes Volk (DE-588)4187207-1 gnd rswk-swf Indianer (DE-588)4026718-0 gnd rswk-swf Forschungsmethode (DE-588)4155046-8 gnd rswk-swf Ethnoarchäologie (DE-588)4328681-1 gnd rswk-swf Kolonialismus (DE-588)4073624-6 gnd rswk-swf USA (DE-588)4078704-7 gnd rswk-swf Nordamerika (DE-588)4042483-2 gnd rswk-swf Indigenous peoples / North America / Antiquities Indians of North America / Antiquities Indians of North America / History Indiens d'Amérique / Amérique du Nord / Antiquités SOCIAL SCIENCE / Indigenous Studies SOCIAL SCIENCE / Archaeology Indigenous peoples / Antiquities Indians of North America North America History USA (DE-588)4078704-7 g Indianer (DE-588)4026718-0 s Kolonialismus (DE-588)4073624-6 s Forschungsmethode (DE-588)4155046-8 s Ethnoarchäologie (DE-588)4328681-1 s DE-604 Indigenes Volk (DE-588)4187207-1 s Nordamerika (DE-588)4042483-2 g Geschichte z Schneider, Tsim D. 1979- (DE-588)1247997723 edt Panich, Lee M. 1978- (DE-588)1212243137 edt Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-0-81308018-5 (DE-604)BV048852061 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-0-81306915-9 https://doi.org/10.5744/florida/9780813069159.001.0001 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext |
