Malcolm Miller, musicologist and pianist, is Honorary Associate in Music and Associate Lecturer at the Open University, UK. He received his doctorate at King’s College, London, and has published widely on Beethoven, Wagner and contemporary music. He is contributing editor or Arietta, Journal oj the Beethoven Piano Society oj Europe and his essavs and chapters appear in Beethoven s String Quartets (University or Illinois Press, 2006), The llagnerJournal, Ernest Bloch Studies (CUP, 2016), Music Essence and Context (Springer International Publishing, 2019), and Mapping Jewish Music oļ Southern Germany (Allitera Verlag, 2021). He is contributing co-cdiror of Music and Exile: Eroni 1933 io the Present Day (Brill, 2023). William Kinderman is Professor and Krown Klein Chair of Performance Studies at the Herb Alpert School of Music, University of California, Los Angeles. His books include Beethoven’s Diabelit Variations, Beethoven, a three-volume study of Beethoven’s creative process, Mozart’s Piano Music, Il agner’s « Parsi/al», lhe Creative Process in MusicJrom Mozart to Kurtag, and most recentlv, Beethoven: A Political Artist in Revolutionary Eimes. As pianist, he has recorded Beethoven’s last sonatas and Diabelli Variations. Recentlv, he has given lectures, lecture recitals and piano performances in major centers including New York, Philadelphia, Vienna, Bonn, Beijing, and Shanghai.
