Zusammenfassung:In this edition, the 14th, the Curitiba Biennial of Contemporary Art is made under the concept of "open borders", showing how the word "border" can have several meanings and how art has always been involved in that concept. With the presence of 9 other countries artworks and its representatives, it will be possible to show the public the vastity of art in different countries, contributing with new thoughts on the construction and the process of another history. The works range from contemporary Russian art and its shatterings in the system to those that denounce diasporas forced by conflicts, racism, persecution. Under the theme Fronteiras em Aberto, the edition also brings poetic intersections with purely artistic suggestions and interests, but attention is drawn to proposals engaged in the maxim: to create is to resistʺ. The general theme is inspired by the commemorations of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, which reconfigured part of the world, particularly Eastern Europe. The volume of works reaches 400, executed by around 100 artists, and testifies to the mutation of contemporary art that transforms space into a place of traces, clues to be deciphered. This time the Curitiba Biennial, whose central axis is the Oscar Niemeyer Museum, expands its borders and reaches other cities and countries. The porosity of art is sensitive to changes in society and contemporary issues of all kinds. Tereza de Arruda, a Brazilian who lives in Germany, and the Spaniard Adolfo Montejo Navas are responsible for the general curatorship and understand borders as an element far beyond geographic space. They are joined by a group of foreign curators: Massimo Scaringella (Italy/Argentina), Gabriela Urtiaga (Argentina), Ernestine White (South Africa), Esebjia Bannan (Russia) and Julie Dumont (Belgium). The international participation includes: Brazil, Argentina, Urugay, Paraguay, Chile, France, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, China among others
