Abstract
Zusammenfassung:The Argentinian sculptor Alejandro Marmo owes a significant part of his fame to his ties with Pope Francis: the Pope not only commissioned him to create various works today in the Vatican Gardens but also chose him to represent contemporary art in his book La mia idea di arte, a cornerstone in the aesthetic orientations of today’s Papacy. However, Marmo’s formation and first successes come from much farther and are deeply rooted in the Argentinian events, sometimes sorrowful. Although moving precisely from the works linked to Pope Francis, the article examines the sculptor’s entire career, including the Murales de Evita and L’abbraccio series, which provide us with a particular interpretation of public art.
