Zusammenfassung: | Librado García or "Smarth", as he signed, had his studio in the center of the city of Guadalajara, and was active during the photographic avant-garde that was forging in the city at the dawn of the 20th century. Little is known about him, the only certainty is that in the mid-1930s no photograph of him was seen or was heard from him again. The book is the work of a team of researchers who set out to recover the work of an avant-garde photographer whose life was lost in mystery. This work, published by the SC, is an exercise in memory to make available to the public and specialists, a remarkable production, which for the most part remains unpublished for historians of art and photography. Throughout the book, the reader can appreciate that the photographer, known as "Smarth", collaborated extensively in the most important illustrated magazines of the time: Jueves de Excelsior, El Universal Ilustrado, CROM, Revistas de Revistas or Nuestra Ciudad, among others, and thanks to this it has been possible to discover his photographic work that is scattered in different private collections in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Puebla and abroad. |
