Zusammenfassung:Many years after Bert Haanstra had finished his film "The Family of Chimps", he still knew the names of the chimpanzees of Burgers Zoo in Arnheim. One of them was Nikkie, "the most powerful chimpanzee of the Netherlands". The uncommonly large colony in Burgers Zoo was not there only to be looked at by the visitors. Since 1971 systematic research of the chimpanzees' behavior was carried out. Advised by expert Otto Adang, Haanstra observed with his camera, and especially with a lot of patience, the daily life of Nikkie and the others. They are all different from one another. One is a bit cleverer than the other and then there is the big boss, the mutual relational frictions and the boisterous youth. The most entrepreneurial of the group even invents somesthing. Haanstra does the narration in the film himself. [Beiheft]
