Zusammenfassung: | This book presents four case studies that interrogate how German fifteenth-century painted triptychs engage with, and ultimately blur various boundaries. Some of the boundaries are internal to the triptych format, for example, transgressed frames between narratives scenes on triptychs' interiors, or interconnections between imagery on triptychs' interiors and exteriors. Other blurred boundaries are regional ones between the Netherlands and Cologne; metaphysical ones between heaven and earth; and artistic distinctions between the media of painting and sculpture. The book's case studies, which shed new light on Conrad von Soest, Stefan Lochner, and the Master of the St Bartholomew Altarpiece, illuminate the importance of German fifteenth-century painting, while providing a fresh assessment of relations between German triptychs and their more famous Netherlandish counterparts' and demonstrating the value of probing Medialität, the implications of format and medium for generating meaning. The book's coda assesses the triptych in the age of Dürer |

Jacobs Amsterdam Amsterdam University Press 2022 1 Online-Ressource (305 Seiten) txt rdacontent c rdamedia cr rdacarrier Visual and material culture, 1300-1700 Title from publisher's bibliographic system (viewed on 16 Nov 2022) This book presents four case studies that interrogate how German fifteenth-century painted triptychs engage with, and ultimately blur various boundaries. The book's coda assesses the triptych in the age of Dürer Konrad von Soest 1370-1422 (DE-588)118565125 gnd rswk-swf Baldung Grien, Hans 1484-1545 (DE-588)118506188 gnd rswk-swf Cranach, Lucas der Ältere 1472-1553 (DE-588)118522582 gnd rswk-swf Lochner, Stephan 1400-1451 (DE-588)118728679 gnd rswk-swf Angler, Gabriel 1404-1483 (DE-588)119556960 gnd rswk-swf Meister des Bartholomäusaltars 1450-1510 (DE-588)118732773 gnd rswk-swf Weyden, Rogier van 1390-1464 Columba-Altar (DE-588)4108099-3 gnd rswk-swf Weyden, Rogier van 1390-1464 (DE-588)118860143 gnd rswk-swf Memling, Hans 1430-1494 (DE-588)118580647 gnd rswk-swf Dürer, Albrecht 1471-1528 (DE-588)11852786X gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1400-1500 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1450-1500 gnd rswk-swf Triptychs / Germany / 15th century Christian art and symbolism / Germany / Medieval, 500-1500 Painting, German / 15th century Farbe (DE-588)4016443-3 gnd rswk-swf Kulturaustausch (DE-588)4165964-8 gnd rswk-swf Auftraggeber (DE-588)4143425-0 gnd rswk-swf Medialität (DE-588)4604953-8 gnd rswk-swf Triptychon (DE-588)4186214-4 gnd rswk-swf Grisaille (DE-588)4202148-0 gnd rswk-swf Einfluss (DE-588)4151276-5 gnd rswk-swf Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 gnd rswk-swf Malerei (DE-588)4037220-0 gnd rswk-swf Deutschland (DE-588)4011882-4 gnd rswk-swf Köln (DE-588)4031483-2 gnd rswk-swf Niederlande (DE-588)4042203-3 gnd rswk-swf Deutschland (DE-588)4011882-4 g Niederlande (DE-588)4042203-3 g Malerei (DE-588)4037220-0 s Kulturaustausch (DE-588)4165964-8 s Geschichte 1400-1500 z Weyden, Rogier van 1390-1464 Columba-Altar (DE-588)4108099-3 u Köln (DE-588)4031483-2 g Geschichte 1450-1500 z DE-604 Triptychon (DE-588)4186214-4 s Grisaille (DE-588)4202148-0 s Farbe (DE-588)4016443-3 s Medialität (DE-588)4604953-8 s Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 s Auftraggeber (DE-588)4143425-0 s Dürer, Albrecht 1471-1528 (DE-588)11852786X p Baldung Grien, Hans 1484-1545 (DE-588)118506188 p Cranach, Lucas der Ältere 1472-1553 (DE-588)118522582 p Weyden, Rogier van 1390-1464 (DE-588)118860143 p Memling, Hans 1430-1494 (DE-588)118580647 p Einfluss (DE-588)4151276-5 s Konrad von Soest 1370-1422 (DE-588)118565125 p Angler, Gabriel 1404-1483 (DE-588)119556960 p Lochner, Stephan 1400-1451 (DE-588)118728679 p Meister des Bartholomäusaltars 1450-1510 (DE-588)118732773 p Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-94-637-2540-8 https://doi.org/10.1017/9789048543557 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext |
