SUMMARY Thesaurus Heraldicum Ecclesiastícum - is the name of a long-term book publishing project of ecclesiastical coats of arms. It represents coats of arms of various ecclesiastical institutions, like bishoprics or parishes, as well as coats of arms of clergymen - bishops or priests of various denominations, such as Roman Catholic, Greek Catholic, Orthodox, and Lutheran. The project is based on heraldic culture traditions in Slovakia and it reflects the current revival of the creation of coats of arms in ecclesiastical heraldry as an important branch of the Slovak heraldry, which has, besides state, county, urban, municipal, or civic heraldry, its invaluable place. As the highest heraldic authority in Slovakia, the Heraldic Register of the Slovak Republic records besides three thousand communal coats of arms, over a thousand civil, or personal coats of arms, also several hundreds of ecclesiastical coats of arms. Because of the fact that the Heraldic Register of the Slovak Republic is open also for the coats of arms of foreign institutions and persons, and enjoys great respect abroad thanks to its high heraldic level, people from abroad also apply for registration of their coats of arms, especially those who have a closer relationship with Slovakia. This second volume of the edition is also enriched by several of such coats of arms. All coats of arms published in this volume are registered in the Heraldic Register of the Slovak Republic, managed by the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic. The project was created as a collaboration between the Heraldic Club and
the Heraldic College, an advisory body of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic, and is related to the book publishing of the Heraldic Register of the Slovak Republic, focused primarily on communal heraldry. The first volume was published in year 2000, and so far eight volumes were issued. In this edition, as well as in the other one called the Heraldic Almanac, which is being published by the Heraldic Club since 2008 ( six volumes issued so far), both focused primarily on heraldry of natural persons, sporadically appeared ecclesiastical coats of arms as well. Taking into account the long-neglected area of ecclesiastical heraldry and its current all-round development, this new edition is going to focus exclusively on ecclesiastical heraldry. The publication is divided into two parts. The first presents coats of arms of legal ecclesiastic persons, and the second presents coats of arms of priests, jointly Roman Catholic, Greek Catholic, Orthodox and Lutheran.
