They are further explained as epic-legendary songs, which are performed by singers who know how to play the lute, and also sharkia, ciftelia and primi (Albanian musical instruments). These songs are known as tenline poems, consisting of a couplet and a octave, that are indefinable or incompatible with the pure Slavic language, regarding the linguistic aspect. Various attempts, and tendencies were also made to bring the epic-legendary song off of the margins of Albanian authenticity. Mention is made of many researchers who have dealt with the oral epic (1407/1512), and the legendary Albanian epic, which is undoubtedly the main source for the first one. Apart with it, many singers from different regions of the Albanian settlements are mentioned as well, who have been famous for their unique recitative style, and also for their narrative, meaning, essence and message. The places where the fights between the main protagonists, the Kreshniks and the other negative characters of the song usually take place, are continually mentioned. Names of famous people are found within these types of songs, whose characters are usually described depending the event. What makes the story more interesting are the rare words that are used, the movable and non-movable items that are frequented by the Kreshniks. The identification of Albanian mythology will remain the essential topic because it is one of the strongest elements of the Albanian authenticity, which, throughout these songs, is related to its cultural past. There will be interviews from people that have been in touch with the singer of the legendary epic, Sefë Mleqani, where the description will be ===^=^= 333 ===== ILIR A. DUGOLLI given in its best way because all of these people who gave evidences were not closely related to him. With their statements, his role and contribution to the culture and liberation of the country would be strengthened. The description is also given to each of his sons, also singers, in greater details, as they are recognized as Sefa s biological and professional heirs. The study done by foreign authors and tracers upon our oral epic, and our epic-legendary songs as well, suggest that the Albanians have an ancient historical culture, alike with them. As abovementioned, many professional epilogists, linguists, foreigners and locals have provided contributions on this cultural field. However, for more exploration of the Albanian legendary epic, I think this monographic book, which also describes the segment of a typical Albanian family known as the family that sang this kind of song, will remain an additional contribution to many authors who have dedicated themselves to this genre of music. Also, for this family which has its own contribution to the great national issue, it is a modest contribution to acquaint the reader personally with the main protagonist of the singing of these songs, as well as his descendants, who represented the ancestor in a very dignified way in the legendary epic and beyond. The main protagonist in this book, Sefe Mleqani, turns out to be the first singer in the Albanian rhapsody who sings the legendary songs with sharki . This way, he made a twist in the history of our rhapsody: from playing these songs with the lute, to them being played with sharki . By doing so, he brought a novelty which can be considered a successful reform in this genre of music. This will be recognized as a special contribution and a revolution of the time in the domain of these songs. Attached to this songwriting ability is the singing of songs of other genres as well, such as; -------------------- 334 .-------- SEFË MLEQANIDHE KËNGËT E TU EPIKE epic, historical, ballad, religious, etc., which give Sefe Mleqanis personality a special dimension of a singer. Cultural heritage will come as the continuity of the work of rhapsodists like Sefa. In this context, the Sefmleqans are presented as his biological descendants. They were treated in three main ways: Sefmleqans as humanists; Sefmleqans as rhapsodists and Sefmleqans as patriots. In all three cases they are represented with a set of facts and evidences that justify their human, artistic and patriotic work and activity. Upcoming will be a photo album of the main protagonist s close family members, which is not by chance in the book, or just to fill the gaps. It carries the importance of creating an accurate photographic image for the readers who have not had the chance to know them. At the same time, these precise photographic images will also serve as a tool to compare the similarities between them and their descendants who continue the rhapsodic tradition of the family, which are also regarded as genetic inheritance. According to ordinary people, their rhapsodic colleagues, and family members, the description of Sefa s and his sons repertoire has been depicted. It is interesting that these two separate repertoires give rise to a great similarity. Eventual differences will also be noticed in the latter songs, such as for the martyrs of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) period. Further on, the distinguishment between these two repertoires will be made. This distinction is drawn in order to emphasize the evolutionary changes in the historiography of their rhapsody. Based on these changes caused by the time, we can conclude that studies need to be done, always and forever, for as long as our rhythm is active. And such studies aim at the tendency to promote our culture in terms of oral and written ILIR A. DUGOLLI creativity. This difference will be shown in a graphic form, where the differences will be expressed in percentage. There will be evidences shown with pictures and all that is needed to complete such a monograph. After his death (Sefas’), Beqiri is the one who completes his musical band in weddings and other gatherings. Thanks to their musical talent and their sounds and styles characteristics, they will be known as the heir to every dimension of their parent. So, they too will look like amateur artists, who left remarkable traces in the field ofAlbanian musicology. Logically, these legendary songs will represent mythical elements originating from popular imagination, which are described with the toponyms of existing places. Along with them will come the traditions, customs, and rules which are mainly considered to be of Albanian belongings. All of these are implied as well-developed, coordinated and harmonized events, hyperbolically justifying the event in the song. Andfinally, this last issue is best explained by the statement of the main protagonist of this monograph, found at the end of his legendary song, which is as follows: ...something must be left, even ifit is long gone ! They are further explained as epic-legendary songs, which are performed by singers who know how to play the lute, and also "sharkia, ciftelia and primi" (Albanian musical instruments). These songs are known as tenline poems, consisting of a couplet and a octave, that are indefinable or incompatible with the pure Slavic language, regarding the linguistic aspect. Various attempts, and tendencies were also made to bring the epic-legendary song off of the margins of Albanian authenticity. Mention is made of many researchers who have dealt with the oral epic (1407/1512), and the legendary Albanian epic, which is undoubtedly the main source for the first one. Apart with it, many singers from different regions of the Albanian settlements are mentioned as well, who have been famous for their unique recitative style, and also for their narrative, meaning, essence and message. The places where the fights between the main protagonists, the Kreshniks and the other negative characters of the song usually take place, are continually mentioned. Names of famous people are found within these types of songs, whose characters are usually described depending the event. What makes the story more interesting are the rare words that are used, the movable and non-movable items that are frequented by the Kreshniks. The identification of Albanian mythology will remain the essential topic because it is one of the strongest elements of the Albanian authenticity, which, throughout these songs, is related to its cultural past. There will be interviews from people that have been in touch with the singer of the legendary epic, Sefë Mleqani, where the description will be ===^=^= 333 ===== ILIR A. DUGOLLI given in its best way because all of these people who gave evidences were not closely related to him. With their statements, his role and contribution to the culture and liberation of the country would be strengthened. The description is also given to each of his sons, also singers, in greater details, as they are recognized as Sefa's biological and professional heirs. The study done by foreign authors and tracers upon our oral epic, and our epic-legendary songs as well, suggest that the Albanians have an ancient historical culture, alike with them. As abovementioned, many professional epilogists, linguists, foreigners and locals have provided contributions on this cultural field. However, for more exploration of the Albanian legendary epic, I think this monographic book, which also describes the segment of a typical Albanian family known as the family that sang this kind of song, will remain an additional contribution to many authors who have dedicated themselves to this genre of music. Also, for this family which has its own contribution to the great national issue, it is a modest contribution to acquaint the reader personally with the main protagonist of the singing of these songs, as well as his descendants, who represented the ancestor in a very dignified way in the legendary epic and beyond. The main protagonist in this book, Sefe Mleqani, turns out to be the first singer in the Albanian rhapsody who sings the legendary songs with "sharki". This way, he made a twist in the history of our rhapsody: from playing these songs with the lute, to them being played with "sharki". By doing so, he brought a novelty which can be considered a successful reform in this genre of music. This will be recognized as a special contribution and a revolution of the time in the domain of these songs. Attached to this songwriting ability is the singing of songs of other genres as well, such as; -------------------- 334 .-------- SEFË MLEQANIDHE KËNGËT E TU EPIKE epic, historical, ballad, religious, etc., which give Sefe Mleqanis' personality a special dimension of a singer. Cultural heritage will come as the continuity of the work of rhapsodists like Sefa. In this context, the "Sefmleqans" are presented as his biological descendants. They were treated in three main ways: Sefmleqans as humanists; Sefmleqans as rhapsodists and Sefmleqans as patriots. In all three cases they are represented with a set of facts and evidences that justify their human, artistic and patriotic work and activity. Upcoming will be a photo album of the main protagonist's close family members, which is not by chance in the book, or just to fill the gaps. It carries the importance of creating an accurate photographic image for the readers who have not had the chance to know them. At the same time, these precise photographic images will also serve as a tool to compare the similarities between them and their descendants who continue the rhapsodic tradition of the family, which are also regarded as genetic inheritance. According to ordinary people, their rhapsodic colleagues, and family members, the description of Sefa's and his sons' repertoire has been depicted. It is interesting that these two separate repertoires give rise to a great similarity. Eventual differences will also be noticed in the latter songs, such as for the martyrs of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) period. Further on, the distinguishment between these two repertoires will be made. This distinction is drawn in order to emphasize the evolutionary changes in the historiography of their rhapsody. Based on these changes caused by the time, we can conclude that studies need to be done, always and forever, for as long as our rhythm is active. And such studies aim at the tendency to promote our culture in terms of oral and written ILIR A. DUGOLLI creativity. This difference will be shown in a graphic form, where the differences will be expressed in percentage. There will be evidences shown with pictures and all that is needed to complete such a monograph. After his death (Sefas’), Beqiri is the one who completes his musical band in weddings and other gatherings. Thanks to their musical talent and their sounds' and styles' characteristics, they will be known as the heir to every dimension of their parent. So, they too will look like amateur artists, who left remarkable traces in the field ofAlbanian musicology. Logically, these legendary songs will represent mythical elements originating from popular imagination, which are described with the toponyms of existing places. Along with them will come the traditions, customs, and rules which are mainly considered to be of Albanian belongings. All of these are implied as well-developed, coordinated and harmonized events, hyperbolically justifying the event in the song. Andfinally, this last issue is best explained by the statement of the main protagonist of this monograph, found at the end of his legendary song, which is as follows: " .something must be left, even ifit is long gone"!
