Zusammenfassung: | This pioneering study harnesses virtual reality to uncover the history of five venues that have been 'lost' to us: London's 1590s Rose Theatre; Bergen's mid-nineteenth-century Komediehuset; Adelaide's Queen's Theatre of 1841; circus tents hosting Cantonese opera performances in Australia's goldfields in the 1850s; and the Stardust showroom in 1950s Las Vegas. Shaping some of the most enduring genres of world theatre and cultural production, each venue marks a significant cultural transformation, charted here through detailed discussion of theatrical praxis and socio-political history. Using virtual models as performance laboratories for research, Visualising Lost Theatres recreates the immersive feel of venues and reveals performance logistics for actors and audiences. Proposing a new methodology for using visualisations as a tool in theatre history, and providing 3D visualisations for the reader to consult alongside the text, this is a landmark contribution to the digital humanities |

Proposing a new methodology for using visualisations as a tool in theatre history, and providing 3D visualisations for the reader to consult alongside the text, this is a landmark contribution to the digital humanities Ibsen, Henrik 1828-1906 Olaf Liljekrans (DE-588)1281061581 gnd rswk-swf Marlowe, Christopher 1564-1593 Doctor Faustus (DE-588)4099304-8 gnd rswk-swf Shakespeare, William 1564-1616 Othello (DE-588)4099368-1 gnd rswk-swf Rose Theatre (DE-588)4491811-2 gnd rswk-swf Stardust Resort and Casino (DE-588)1281645281 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1841 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1500-2000 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1588-1642 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1857 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1850-1870 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1959 gnd rswk-swf Theater / Aesthetics Theater architecture Architecture and technology Theater audiences Yueju Guangdong (DE-588)4270992-1 gnd rswk-swf Hotelbau (DE-588)4160693-0 gnd rswk-swf Inszenierung (DE-588)4027223-0 gnd rswk-swf Theaterbau (DE-588)4059706-4 gnd rswk-swf Veranstaltungsraum (DE-588)4353123-4 gnd rswk-swf Verlorene Architektur (DE-588)7628142-5 gnd rswk-swf Choreografie (DE-588)4069977-8 gnd rswk-swf Theater (DE-588)4059702-7 gnd rswk-swf Aufführung (DE-588)4143388-9 gnd rswk-swf Kulturvermittlung (DE-588)4165992-2 gnd rswk-swf Australien (DE-588)4003900-6 gnd rswk-swf Adelaide (DE-588)4079623-1 gnd rswk-swf Bergen Norwegen (DE-588)1027742-0 gnd rswk-swf Ibsen, Henrik 1828-1906 Olaf Liljekrans (DE-588)1281061581 u Bergen Norwegen (DE-588)1027742-0 g Theaterbau (DE-588)4059706-4 s Theater (DE-588)4059702-7 s Inszenierung (DE-588)4027223-0 s Aufführung (DE-588)4143388-9 s Geschichte 1857 z DE-604 Marlowe, Christopher 1564-1593 Doctor Faustus (DE-588)4099304-8 u Rose Theatre (DE-588)4491811-2 b Geschichte 1588-1642 z Verlorene Architektur (DE-588)7628142-5 s Geschichte 1500-2000 z Adelaide (DE-588)4079623-1 g Shakespeare, William 1564-1616 Othello (DE-588)4099368-1 u Geschichte 1841 z Stardust Resort and Casino (DE-588)1281645281 b Hotelbau (DE-588)4160693-0 s Veranstaltungsraum (DE-588)4353123-4 s Choreografie (DE-588)4069977-8 s Geschichte 1959 z Yueju Guangdong (DE-588)4270992-1 s Kulturvermittlung (DE-588)4165992-2 s Australien (DE-588)4003900-6 g Geschichte 1850-1870 z Holledge, Julie 1950- (DE-588)172159075 aut Bollen, Jonathan ca. 20./21.
