{CONTRIBUTI I FEMRËS NË LUFTËN ÇLIRIMTARE TË KOSOVĒS. CONCLUSION In addressing the topic, we have followed the original path that shows the determination, sacrifice, spirit and patriotic freedom - loving world of women in the Kosovo Liberation War, and in particular the war in Kaçanik and Hani i Elezit. Actually, the activity of women in the Liberation War of Kosovo in Kaçanik and Hani i Elezit, is a case that speaks of a special commitment and foresight to give everything of themselves, only to gain freedom and independence for Albanians. With many sacrifices, Albanian women, made the change of the bitter reality. During the coverage of women’s activity in the Liberation War, we reflected the role and contribution of mothers, women and girls who became a strong arm and great help to freedom fighters, helping them with food, clothing, shelter and many more. Also, it reflects the participation of girls and women in the military formations of the Brigade 162 “Agim Bajrami”. From the events we experienced we learnt that women managed to give the maximum of the activity that is described with deep feelings of love for people, the land, Kosovo and its freedom. National Features in the war against the invaders have been historically formed. In this paper are reflected facts, proof, various photographs which show the contribution in support of the Liberation War. Also it reflects the heroism of girls and women on the front line but also the sacrifice of all girls and women and their martyrdom. From this paper, the reader will evoke the glorious past of Albanian women and
girls, the activity of women expresses the legitimate pride of the nation. The reader of this paper will be aware of the contribution of women and in the organization of demonstrations throughout the years for national liberation, but especially for the liberation war in Kaçanik. In this context, every activity of women in the years of slavery was carried out according to a high national morality and in function of the liberation of people and the country. Furthermore, the great deeds that Albanian girls and women gave to the Liberation War will always stand the test of time. Indeed, they were dignified, they were strong in front of every risk, they were determined in front of every challenge that came in their way. Seeing these values of the girls and women of the liberation war we convey as a message that the more we get away from them in time, the closer we will be to them, to their extraordinary spirit and deeds given to the nation and the liberation of our homeland. The more time passes, the more their work will radiate. Such were our mothers, sisters, and wives. 215
HAJRUSH KÜRTAJ Being constantly in the course of events, different kinds of events, during the two-year period (1998 - 1999) and then in the municipality of Kaçanik and its surroundings, as fighters first and then its leader in the ZON, I was given the opportunity to contribute for my country, like every Albanian, for which I am proud of. By this I mean that I have only paid a debt to my homeland, my country, regardless of the price of freedom, for which others gave even more, everyone as much as they could give, because Freedom, not only is extremely expensive but also sacred. We probably know this and we should enrich and appreciate it. And, unceasingly, to this day, from the first days when we set out and embarked together on our important journey to confront the Serbian invading forces, they waged a not-so-pure but extremely barbaric war, committing genocide. Unprecedentedly, to our unarmed civilian population (especially women, the elderly and children) we were aware that we would have a hard time, but we were firmly determined to make a clean war, even though it would cost us dearly. And, just as we decided to start it, we ended it thanks to the help of our allies, when our allies also understood the truth about who was the invader and who were the liberators Even today, since I was a member of the KLA, always - day and night, constantly, everywhere and anytime, as if in a celluloid strip, tens, hundreds of thousands of different images are displayed to me, which I have experienced together with comrades, where we have perpetuated our ideal as a long standing goal of
previous generations, generation after generation, to be liberated once and for all. We achieved this goal thanks to the shed blood of our martyrs, our heroes, especially women who "broke" the rules of the "game” and along with men (fathers, brothers .) loaded their weapons and did what should be done for the homeland, as did our heroines before, following the example of Queen Teuta, Tringë Smajli, Nora Kelmendi, Shotë Galica, Xhevë Lladrovci, Hyrë Emini and many other Teutas, Noras Shotas, Xhevas, etc. Even today, I will also think about all those incessant titanic efforts of these heroines of ours (mother, grandmother, sister and daughter) who in various ways helped our Liberation War, giving everything, even their lives, though they experienced many things, as in the circles of hell. And, so consciously, they acted for the good of their homeland, helping KLA members, where they had sons and daughters, relatives in the service of our holy war. So, our Liberation War was helped not only by those mothers, whose sons and daughters were members of the KLA, but also by those (hundreds of thousands of other mothers) who took care of our health, sheltering us day and night, providing us with food as well as commitment and added care that we 216 3
KONTRIBUTII FEMRËS NË LUFTËN ÇLIRIMTARE TË KOSOVËS.· be more organized, more powerful in fulfilling our obligations to the Homeland. I can never ever forget the contribution of women (our grandmothers, mothers, sisters and daughters), who despite the fact that they were “in between the anvil and the hammer” did what very few people could do, to the benefit of the liberation war, especially during the two years period between1998- 1999 in Kaçanik and Hani Elezit with their surrounding area as well as their support to Ilirida (Ilirida includes all the Albanian territories located in Northern Macedonia.) So, these were: our mother, sister and daughter, who before or later, who less or more, who gave everything from themselves for our common good, without ever hesitating, but overcoming even the biggest barricades, sacrificing their lives as well as the families where they lived and worked. Therefore, their heroic activity is to be appreciated forever and ever, generation after generation, to serve the descendants as an example of how the Homeland is helped and loved. In conclusion we would add and emphasize the fact that our KLA would have a hard time - much harder, if we lacked the help and so dedicated care of our women, who did everything possible to help our Liberation War, which they did with high awareness, with all their heart and soul. Therefore, each of them was in the service of the KLA, for which they are constantly honored and respected, not only on their anniversaries of the fallen. For their contribution, they, almost all, have been rewarded with gratitude from
our institutions and associations, which they deserve even more. They, every each of them, deserve at least to be honored, which we, former KLA members, do not hesitate to give. In this study, an attempt was made to present in its full dimensions the activity of women in the liberation of our country and the evaluation was made in support of the data collected on the great work that women gave in the fight for freedom.
