| Beschreibung: | for chamber orchestra, robots-sculptures orchestra and pre-recorded sounds.France TV video:Commissioned by Fondation Singer-Polignac and Le BalconOde to the Earth, inspired by the Colombian jungle near which I grew up, and the traditions it protects. A traditional marimba that I brought from the Colombian jungle is played by robotic arms and "plays" and gives to the orchestra souvenirs of traditional music. I wanted to warmly extend the dialogue between times and worlds that Mahler wrote out of 8th-century Chinese poems.Sculptures made of stones and hand-blown glass by Marion Flament are also played by robots and they evoke mineral forces which are very present in Mahler's work.Pre-recorded sounds includes a text by Gonzalo Arango that also inspired this piece. This text is a melancholic, loving and funny reverie of colombian jungle.Premiered at the Basilique de Saint-Denis (France) at the Festival de Saint-Denis the 2nd of July 2020 by Le Balcon, Maxime Pascal, conductorSculptures and set design: Marion Flament and Jimme Cloo Computers sounds assistant: Augustin Muller Robotics interaction research: Martin Fouilleul |
