Beschreibung: | Helix Nemoralis is the italian name of a european snail type. Looking for a title of my piece, the name fascinated me: snails keep their biological history in every layer of their spiral shell. The compositional process is similar to that image. The starting point of the piece investigates the quite young instrument and its possibility of multiple timbres and articulations. The germ of the entire piece is the 'solo' at the beginning, when the E-Bass remains alone with its own electronic. Precisely that part has a fragmented spiral form. The rotating movements is provoked by the discontinuity of meter and by the fast change of gestures. The following events bring the traces of that movement. The electronics is based exclusively on recorded E-Bass sounds and it is triggered by the E-Bass itself. However, the electronic part develops its own dialectic and build its own space. Withing that space, the instrument continue to grow and to expand |
