adam_text | Autumn 2019 ORAL HISTORY 1 NOTES ON CONTRIBUTORS LUKAS ALLEMANN, PhD candidate, is a historian and anthropologist at the Arctic Centre, University of Lapland, Finland. In recent years, he has been focusing on oral history research about the relocations of the Sami people in the Soviet Union, and their consequences. CONTENTS VIRGINIA BERRIDGE is professor of history and founder director of the Centre for History in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London. Her research interests are in public health, substance use, HIV/AIDS, and evidence and policy. SIOBHAN BROWNLIE is a lecturer in intercultural communication at the University of Manchester. She is currently completing a monograph entitled Discourses of Memory and Refugees: An Exploration of Facet Methodology. MALCOLM COWBURN is professor emeritus in applied social science at Sheffield Hallam University. Since retirement he has also held honorary and visiting chairs in criminology at the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth. KATE MELVIN is a freelance qualitative social researcher working in the public and voluntary sectors. She has a particular interest in the links between oral history and qualitative methodologies. EMMAPEPLOWisassistant director of the History of Parliament Trust and has been working on the Trust’s national oral history project since 2012, conducting interviews and presenting papers. PRISCILA PIVATTO is a research associate at the History of Parliament Trust and has been the coordinator of the Trust’s national oral history project since 2011. SUZANNE TAYLOR
is research fellow at the Centre for History in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her doctoral research was on the remedicalisation of cannabis. ARCHANA VENKATESH is a PhD candidate in the Department of History at Ohio State University. Her dissertation is a history of women doctors and their role in formulating and implementing developmental initiatives in twentieth century India, with a focus on south India. LEYLA VURAL is an independent oral historian based in New York City and most recently has interviewed LGBTQ New Yorkers, neighbourhood preservationists and pre-eminent scientists. DANIEL WARNER received his PhD from the University of Liverpool in 2018. His research explores British inner cities and working-class culture in relation to postwar urban renewal and decline.
