Zusammenfassung:Rediscover one of the most important 19th-century ballets at one of the world's most prestigious venues! The legendary Bolshoi Ballet takes on Coppélia, with music by Léo Delibes and a libretto inspired by the E.T.A. Hoffmann story The Sandman. The resounding success of the original production was cut short by the Franco-Prussian War, but the score, extraordinary story, and exquisite dance numbers--especially as choreographed by the great Marius Petipa and Enrico Cecchetti in an 1884 revival--have never gone out of fashion, winning over audiences then as now. Coppélia, or The Girl with the Porcelain Eyes, follows the adventures of the devious Dr. Coppelius, and young couple Swanilda and Franz. When Franz leaves Swanilda for Dr. Coppelius's creation, a life-sized dancing doll named Coppelia, the doctor attempts to capture Franz and seal his soul away inside the doll--but Swanilda decides to take matters into her own hands and run to her betrothed's rescue... Delibes, inspired by the music of Eastern Europe, composed a score which, alongside the graceful and meticulous movements of the astonishing Bolshoi dancers, makes for a thrilling, nonstop spectacle!
