Zusammenfassung:Sir Antonio Pappano and the RCM Orchestra bring Gallic flavor to London in this evocative all-French program! After beginning with the atmospheric D'un matin de printemps--the last work completed by Lili Boulanger before her untimely death at 24--the maestro moves to Ravel. The sumptuous Une barque sur l'océan and rhythmically dazzling Alborada del gracioso (the only two of the Miroirs orchestrated by Ravel himself) give way to Ma mère l'Oye, an ode to childhood based on beloved fairy tales. Finally, Pappano leads the ensemble, with brilliant young organist Eric Chan, in Saint-Saëns's magnificent "Organ" Symphony, a work of which the composer said "I gave everything to it I was able to give. What I have here accomplished, I will never achieve again.
