Zusammenfassung:Hundreds of recordings, awards, and honors over the course of 60 years show the import of the career of one of the 20th and 21st century's most prolific conductors. Dutch television host Hans Haffmans tells the story of Bernard Haitink's life and career in a moving documentary. Excerpts from rehearsals for his coming concert at the Berliner Philharmonie in a Mahler program, interviews, masterclasses, and archival footage make up the filmmaker's very astute portrait. From his retirement home in the south of France, Haitink, now in his nineties, reflects on his incredible career while still looking toward the future. When asked why he continues to conduct, he responds, ever the perfectionist, "Maybe I could do better the next time... maybe."
