Zusammenfassung:An ebullient musical energy fills the de Doelen's Grote zaal with the return of the pianist nonpareil, Martha Argerich! She joins the Rotterdam Philharmonic under Lahav Shani for a program featuring two of Prokofiev's most enduringly popular works, including one of the Argentinian virtuoso's signature concertos. In 1917, Prokofiev was working on two pieces destined to establish him as one of the 20th century's most beloved composers: his "Classical" First Symphony and Third Piano Concerto. The two works show Haydn's influence on Prokofiev's compositional language, and are both brilliant examples of the innovative neoclassical style. The three-movement piano concerto, though devilishly challenging for the pianist, is passionately expressive and filled with kinetic energy. In the symphony mixes, Prokofiev mixes 18th-century structure and style, 20th-century dissonances, and his own cheeky harmonies and jagged rhythms to create an irresistible chef d'uvre! We would like to thank Concert Hall De Doelen for their partnership
