Zusammenfassung: | Mendelssohn -- Les Deux Romantismes Jean-François Zygel, an incomparable pianist and teacher, presents a music lesson, illustrated on the piano and with the participation of Nicolas Dautricourt, Romain Garioud and The Diabelli Quartet. One hour of words and music, filmed live, to discover the secrets of Mendelssohn's music. "Some people deplore in Mendelssohn the absence of the elementary power of emotion without finding compensation in the other qualities he possesses: freedom while respecting the rules and noble affections within the bounds of beauty."Friedrich Nietzsche (1878) "What we admire most in this master is his great talent for form, for style, his ability to make the most extraordinary things his own, his fine craftsmanship, his fine ear, his sensitive and delicate antenna, as well as his serious, I would almost say, passionate indifference."Henrich Heine (1844) The music lessons The lessons given during the last 10 years by Jean-François Zygel, the incomparable pianist and teacher, at the Town Hall of the 20th arrondissement in Paris and then in the Théâtre du Châtelet that the Production company Naïve filmed in recent years are famous. They have helped us to gain a special insight into the works of Bartók, Chopin, Shostakovich, Debussy, Fauré, Mendelssohn, Ravel, and more recently Mozart and Schubert. During these music lessons, Jean-François Zygel presents the composers' works, providing his own piano accompaniment, and is often joined by musicians. In this way he enables his audience to (re)discover part of the classical music repertoire from the inside, in a manner which is both fun and original |
