Zusammenfassung:With Michael Collins, the clarinet enchants the Verbier Festival stage. One of the greatest clarinettists today, Englishman Michael Collins was on stage at the Verbier Festival in 2007 for a concert presenting the most beautiful pieces of chamber music for the clarinet. At his side was French pianist Julien Quentin, a regular performer at the festival. Both of them provide a marvellous performance of Mozart's Sonata for Violin and Piano, "Strinasacchi" K454, transcribed for clarinet by Collins himself, then the magnificent Grand Duo for clarinet and piano by Weber, in which Collins and Quentin's playing answer one another with fine fluidity. Lastly, the Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by Poulenc, written for Benny Goodman who premiered it with Leonard Bernstein at the piano. In a pure masterpiece composed for a clarinet legend, Michael Collins shows he is entirely worthy of his predecessor. And that is no understatement
