Interdisciplinary research in the Krucza Skała Shelter allowed the examination of further stages of the site inhabitation by humans between GS-2. la and GI- la, i.e. the time span of over c.a. 2000 years. This was the time of late Pleistocene warming and cooling of the climate, starting with the Oldest Dryas, through the Bolling, Older Dryas, Allerød, Younger Dryas, up to the Holo cene period of warming. After 10 000 year-interval, the place was occupied by a settlement in the late Roman period. At the turn of the 13th and 14th c. the site was a place of campsites. This settlement sequence, consist ing of multiple incidents, resulted in a partial damage of older phases by the younger ones. The damage was also caused by contemporary activity of rock climbers. Each time the site was selected for inhabitation as a campsite, the vital criterion was its location on the edge of a deep valley, in the top section of a steep slope facing east, c.a. 35 m above the valley bottom, occupied by a river, lake or marshes. The diverse landscape permitted the hunting or at least they used a shed antlers of reindeer, and most probably birds, mainly the ones connected with aquatic environment. The short-lived stays
occurred during hunting penetrations of the Kroczyckie Rocks, which the hunters reached coming from base camps, located somewhere in the southern part of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland.
