Zusammenfassung: | "This book examines the role of the United States in Greek-Turkish relations and fills an important gap in alliance theory regarding the Guardian's Dilemma. The strategy of a great power involves not only tackling threats from enemies, but also dealing with problems that arise between allies. Every time Greece and Turkey threatened to go to war against each other, the United States had to effectively restrain its two strategic allies without straining relations with either one of them. This book explores how the United States responded to the guardian's dilemma in six crises during the Cold War, pursuing a policy of dual restraint to prevent an intra-alliance conflict, mitigate the consequences of each crisis, and maintain effective control of the Rimland Bridge. The book examines from a neoclassical-realist standpoint how the United States responded to each Greek-Turkish crisis, for what reasons, and with what results. It will be of interest to scholars of foreign policy, security studies, geopolitics and international relations"-- |

It will be of interest to scholars of foreign policy, security studies, geopolitics and international relations"-- Geschichte 1955-1987 gnd rswk-swf Außenpolitik (DE-588)4003846-4 gnd rswk-swf Außenbeziehungen (DE-588)4143618-0 gnd rswk-swf USA (DE-588)4078704-7 gnd rswk-swf Türkei (DE-588)4061163-2 gnd rswk-swf Griechenland (DE-588)4022047-3 gnd rswk-swf United States / Foreign relations / Greece United States / Foreign relations / Turkey Greece / Foreign relations / United States Turkey / Foreign relations / United States Greece / Foreign relations / Turkey Turkey / Foreign relations / Greece United States / Foreign relations / 20th century États-Unis / Relations extérieures / Grèce Grèce / Relations extérieures / États-Unis États-Unis / Relations extérieures / 20e siècle Diplomatic relations Greece Turkey United States 1900-1999 USA (DE-588)4078704-7 g Griechenland (DE-588)4022047-3 g Türkei (DE-588)4061163-2 g Außenbeziehungen (DE-588)4143618-0 s Außenpolitik (DE-588)4003846-4 s Geschichte 1955-1987 z DE-604 Äquivalent Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 978-1-03-212353-0 Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe 978-1-00-322418-1 Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=033670446&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=033670446&sequence=000003&line_number=0002&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Register // Gemischte Register |
