Zusammenfassung: | This book explores the ways in which a range of women-as consorts, regents, mistresses, factional power players, attendants at court, or as objects of courtly patronage-wielded power in order to advance individual, familial, and factional agendas in the early sixteenth-century French court. Spring boarding from the burgeoning scholarship of gender, the political, and power in early modern Europe, the book provides a perspective from the French court, from the reigns of Charles VIII to Henri II, a time at which the French court was a glittering centre of culture and which women are understood to have played increasingly important roles. Cross-disciplinary in its perspectives, these essays by historians, art and literary scholars cohesively investigate the dynamic operations of gendered power in political acts, recognised status as queens and regents, ritualised behaviors such as gift-giving, educational coteries, courtly household organisation, and social networking, literary and artistic patronage, female authorship, and epistolary strategies |

Catherine de Medicis Tested by the Virtue of Charity (1533 -- 1559) -- Discourse and Metadiscourse / Denis Crouzet Open Access EbpS This book explores the ways in which a range of women-as consorts, regents, mistresses, factional power players, attendants at court, or as objects of courtly patronage-wielded power in order to advance individual, familial, and factional agendas in the early sixteenth-century French court. Cross-disciplinary in its perspectives, these essays by historians, art and literary scholars cohesively investigate the dynamic operations of gendered power in political acts, recognised status as queens and regents, ritualised behaviors such as gift-giving, educational coteries, courtly household organisation, and social networking, literary and artistic patronage, female authorship, and epistolary strategies Geschichte 1483-1563 gnd rswk-swf Femmes Conditions sociales Courts and courtiers HISTORY France Women Social conditions Women France Social conditions 15th century Women France Social conditions 16th century Macht (DE-588)4036824-5 gnd rswk-swf Hof (DE-588)4025453-7 gnd rswk-swf Frau (DE-588)4018202-2 gnd rswk-swf Frankreich (DE-588)4018145-5 gnd rswk-swf 1400-1599 France / Court and courtiers / History / 15th century France / Court and courtiers / History / 16th century France Electronic books History (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Frankreich (DE-588)4018145-5 g Hof (DE-588)4025453-7 s Frau (DE-588)4018202-2 s Macht (DE-588)4036824-5 s Geschichte 1483-1563 z DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe Broomhall, Susan Women and Power at the French Court, 1483-1563 [Place of publication not identified] : Amsterdam University Press (Bibliovault) : Amsterdam University Press, 2018 9462983429 9789462983427 https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=1949505 Verlag kostenfrei Volltext |
