Zusammenfassung: | "The role played by women in the evolution of religious art and architecture has been largely neglected. This study of upper-class women in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries corrects that oversight, uncovering the active role they undertook in choosing designs, materials, and locations for monuments, and commissioning repairs and additions to many of the parish churches, chantry chapels, and almshouses characteristic of the English countryside. Their preferred art, Barbara J. Harris shows, reveals their responses to the religious reformation and signifies their preferred identities."--Back cover |

Harris shows, reveals their responses to the religious reformation and signifies their preferred identities."--Back cover Geschichte 1450-1550 gnd rswk-swf Architecture chrétienne Histoire Églises Décoration et ornement Femmes de la classe supérieure Histoire Femmes et religion Histoire Mécénat Aspect religieux Church architecture Church decoration and ornament HISTORY Medieval RELIGION Christian Church RELIGION Christianity Religious art Upper class women Women and religion Art patronage England Religious aspects History 15th century Art patronage England Religious aspects History 16th century Church architecture England History 15th century Church architecture England History 16th century Church decoration and ornament England History 15th century Church decoration and ornament England History 16th century Religious art England History 15th century Religious art England History 16th century Upper class women England History 15th century Upper class women England History 16th century Women and religion England History 15th century Women and religion England History 16th century Kirchenmalerei (DE-588)4467460-0 gnd rswk-swf Kirchenbau (DE-588)4073436-5 gnd rswk-swf Christliche Kunst (DE-588)4010109-5 gnd rswk-swf Mäzenatentum (DE-588)4074442-5 gnd rswk-swf Weiblicher Adel (DE-588)4236528-4 gnd rswk-swf England (DE-588)4014770-8 gnd rswk-swf 1400-1599 England / Church history / 15th century England / Church history / 16th century Angleterre / Histoire religieuse / 15e siècle Angleterre / Histoire religieuse / 16e siècle England Electronic books Church history History England (DE-588)4014770-8 g Weiblicher Adel (DE-588)4236528-4 s Mäzenatentum (DE-588)4074442-5 s Christliche Kunst (DE-588)4010109-5 s Kirchenbau (DE-588)4073436-5 s Kirchenmalerei (DE-588)4467460-0 s Geschichte 1450-1550 z DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe Harris, Barbara J.
