Zusammenfassung: | "This book is a case study into the affective history of Holocaust drama offering a new perspective on the impact of The Diary of Anne Frank, the pivotal 1950s play that was a turning point in Holocaust consciousness. Despite its overwhelming success, criticism of the Broadway makeover has been harsh, suggesting that the alleged Americanization would not do justice to the violence of the Holocaust or Anne Frank's budding Jewishness. This study revisits these issues by focusing on the play's European appropriation delving into the emotional intensity with which the piece was produced and received. The core of the exploration is a history of the Dutch staging in ethnographic detail, based on unique archival material such as correspondence with Otto Frank, prompt books, original tapes, blueprints of the set and oral history. This book is a microhistory of the first Dutch performance of the stage adaptation of Anne Frank's diary by the American playwrights Goodrich and Hackett. The stage history is examined in the context of the postwar hesitant development of publicly voiced Holocaust consciousness. Influenced by memory studies and affect theory, the emphasis is on the emotional impact of the drama on both the members of the cast and the audience and will be of great interest to students and scholars in theatre & performance studies, memory studies, cultural history, Jewish Studies, Holocaust Studies and Contemporary European History"-- |

Influenced by memory studies and affect theory, the emphasis is on the emotional impact of the drama on both the members of the cast and the audience and will be of great interest to students and scholars in theatre & performance studies, memory studies, cultural history, Jewish Studies, Holocaust Studies and Contemporary European History"-- Frank, Anne 1929-1945 Het achterhuis (DE-588)4198214-9 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1954-1958 gnd rswk-swf Drama (DE-588)4012899-4 gnd rswk-swf Judenverfolgung Motiv (DE-588)4136040-0 gnd rswk-swf Kollektives Gedächtnis (DE-588)4200793-8 gnd rswk-swf Judenvernichtung Motiv (DE-588)4122228-3 gnd rswk-swf Niederlande (DE-588)4042203-3 gnd rswk-swf Goodrich, Frances / Diary of Anne Frank Goodrich, Frances / Stage history / Netherlands Goodrich, Frances / Dramatic production Theater / Netherlands / History / 20th century Frank, Anne / 1929-1945 / Achterhuis / Adaptations Frank, Anne / 1929-1945 / In literature Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945), in literature Frank, Anne / 1929-1945 Goodrich, Frances Achterhuis (Frank, Anne) Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) in literature Literature Theater Netherlands History Adaptations 1900-1999 Theatrical adaptations Informational works Niederlande (DE-588)4042203-3 g Frank, Anne 1929-1945 Het achterhuis (DE-588)4198214-9 u Drama (DE-588)4012899-4 s Judenverfolgung Motiv (DE-588)4136040-0 s Judenvernichtung Motiv (DE-588)4122228-3 s Kollektives Gedächtnis (DE-588)4200793-8 s Geschichte 1954-1958 z DE-604 Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe, ebk. 978-1-03-203432-4 Digitalisierung UB Regensburg - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=033247809&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
