Zusammenfassung:This book, the result of a doctoral research completed with the Prourb / FAUUFRJ in 2019, and seeks to answer some questions about the indefinite growth of urban networks beyond traditional suburbs. It should be considered that cities today, in the second decade of the 21st century, are still studied and described through theories and concepts formulated between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The research that resulted in this work sought to explore new ways of describe and conceptualize cities, where they grow and expand the most, on the outer peripheries that identify with periurban or rurban territory, as some prefer. This city is the result of a disorderly and spontaneous growth, organizing itself as a sum of fabrics that connect without adding together, like a different patchwork in an urban continuum. The peripheries today appear as an extension of yesterday's suburbs, in an urbanization that erased in many situations many of its limits and borders, which delimited the intermediate spaces between the center and the external periphery. The transition between center, nearby suburbs, distant suburbs, first peripheries and external peripheries has lost the clarity of the limits that defined them, and today it is difficult to say where one begins and where the other ends. In this expanded space of additions that do not add up, one of the possible ways to describe the resulting space may be that of a hybrid city. "The Coleção Pesquisadores aims to spread and streamline the publication of the academic production in different areas. Therefore, its models attend both the publication of doctoral theses and master's dissertations, as well as the publication of results of works of postgraduate as well as undergraduate courses held throughout the country.: (HKB Translation) --Verso Cover
