Zusammenfassung: | From biometrics to predictive policing, contemporary security relies on sophisticated scientific evidence-gathering and knowledge-making focused on the human body. Bringing together new anthropological perspectives on the complexities of security in the present moment, the contributors to Bodies as Evidence reveal how bodies have become critical sources of evidence that is organized and deployed to classify, recognize, and manage human life. Through global case studies that explore biometric identification, border control, forensics, predictive policing, and counterterrorism, the contributors show how security discourses and practices that target the body contribute to new configurations of knowledge and power. At the same time, margins of error, unreliable technologies, and a growing suspicion of scientific evidence in a "post-truth" era contribute to growing insecurity, especially among marginalized populations |

At the same time, margins of error, unreliable technologies, and a growing suspicion of scientific evidence in a "post-truth" era contribute to growing insecurity, especially among marginalized populations Human body Biometric identification Crime prevention Border security Terrorism / Prevention Körper (DE-588)4031575-7 gnd rswk-swf Polizei (DE-588)4046595-0 gnd rswk-swf Sicherheitspolitik (DE-588)4116489-1 gnd rswk-swf Biometrie (DE-588)4124925-2 gnd rswk-swf Grenzschutz (DE-588)4158152-0 gnd rswk-swf Innere Sicherheit (DE-588)4127888-4 gnd rswk-swf Polizeiliche Überwachung (DE-588)4046609-7 gnd rswk-swf Politische Anthropologie (DE-588)4293325-0 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Körper (DE-588)4031575-7 s Biometrie (DE-588)4124925-2 s Innere Sicherheit (DE-588)4127888-4 s Sicherheitspolitik (DE-588)4116489-1 s Grenzschutz (DE-588)4158152-0 s Polizei (DE-588)4046595-0 s Polizeiliche Überwachung (DE-588)4046609-7 s Politische Anthropologie (DE-588)4293325-0 s DE-604 Maguire, Mark edt Rao, Ursula edt Zurawski, Nils 1968- edt Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 9781478001690 |
