Zusammenfassung: | "The Auto-Ethnographic Turn in Design' is emerging from a growing recognition of design's capacity to make sense of one's world while at the same time to express and convey this personal insight or knowledge through rich, layered, and ultimately meaningful processes or objects. Auto-ethnographic design seeks to come to terms with one's context and self' as well as the materiality that mediates these two. In doing so, it offers a vision of design that is free of commercial commissions, assumed users' needs, or well-intentioned do-goodism, and reveals a sincerity and genuine commitment in the process of design that is too often missing. The book is divided between "Ideas and Dialogues" (reflections and conversations between critics, theorists, educators, and practitioners), which ground conceptions of auto-ethnography and the "self" and explore how experiences can be relevant and meaningful starting points for design and visual art; and "Projects and Practices", which embody auto-ethnographic qualities' whereby design objects and practices are embedded with personal sentiments, experiences, desires, fears, and more" -- Provided by publisher |

In doing so, it offers a vision of design that is free of commercial commissions, assumed users' needs, or well-intentioned do-goodism, and reveals a sincerity and genuine commitment in the process of design that is too often missing. The book is divided between "Ideas and Dialogues" (reflections and conversations between critics, theorists, educators, and practitioners), which ground conceptions of auto-ethnography and the "self" and explore how experiences can be relevant and meaningful starting points for design and visual art; and "Projects and Practices", which embody auto-ethnographic qualities' whereby design objects and practices are embedded with personal sentiments, experiences, desires, fears, and more" -- Provided by publisher</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Ästhetik</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4000626-8</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Design</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4011510-0</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Autoethnografie</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)1076054927</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Design / Social aspects</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Design / Psychological aspects</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Design / Political aspects</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Design / Human factors</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Conceptual art</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Materialism in art</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4143413-4</subfield><subfield code="a">Aufsatzsammlung</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd-content</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Design</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4011510-0</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Ästhetik</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4000626-8</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="5">DE-604</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="1" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Autoethnografie</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)1076054927</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="5">DE-604</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Schouwenberg, Louise</subfield><subfield code="d">1954-</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)136367720</subfield><subfield code="4">edt</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Kaethler, Michael</subfield><subfield code="d">ca. 20. The book is divided between "Ideas and Dialogues" (reflections and conversations between critics, theorists, educators, and practitioners), which ground conceptions of auto-ethnography and the "self" and explore how experiences can be relevant and meaningful starting points for design and visual art; and "Projects and Practices", which embody auto-ethnographic qualities' whereby design objects and practices are embedded with personal sentiments, experiences, desires, fears, and more" -- Provided by publisher Ästhetik (DE-588)4000626-8 gnd rswk-swf Design (DE-588)4011510-0 gnd rswk-swf Autoethnografie (DE-588)1076054927 gnd rswk-swf Design / Social aspects Design / Psychological aspects Design / Political aspects Design / Human factors Conceptual art Materialism in art (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Design (DE-588)4011510-0 s Ästhetik (DE-588)4000626-8 s DE-604 Autoethnografie (DE-588)1076054927 s Schouwenberg, Louise 1954- (DE-588)136367720 edt Kaethler, Michael ca. 20.
