(at the Museum and Exhibition Complex New Jerusalem) (2018). The au thor’s graphic works were exhibited at different muse ums, including small exhibi tions at private ones (Galeyev Gallery, 2012; KGallery, 2018; Our Artists Gallery, 2020). Falk’s enormous heritage was distributed by his widow,
Angelina Shchekin-Krotova, among numerous museums of the former USSR — so that people all over the coun try could
see his paintings. A considerable number of works are in the private collections, both in Russia and abroad. The State Tretyakov Gallery endeavors to perform a challenging task — to gather Falk’s best and most interesting works and to acquaint modern audience with the artist. The exhibition presents Falk’s drawings and paintings from the largest collections in Russia, namely, from the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Radishchev Art Museum in Saratov; the National Gallery of Armenia (19 museums in total), and from certain private collections. Numerous Russian scholars have written a lot about Falk; the artist’s personal letters and diary with sketches of his works have been pub lished along with notes of his lectures, memoirs about him and monographs dedicated to his life and art. A com prehensive catalogue of the artist’s works was published in 2006, a supplement to it came out in 2018. The current edition includes the article about the evo lution of Falk’s paintings, certain memoirs published for the first time, the article about the artist’s graphic works and detailed chronicle of his life. The chronicle com prises passages from critical essays of the 1900s-1950s, memoirs of Falk’s contem poraries, autobiographical notes, letters and private documents. All this material offers an insight into Falk’s life and thus adds to com prehensive understanding of both the master’s personality and his artistic way. Certain passages and documentary photos are published for the first time. Both the exhibition and the
edition are aimed at helping modern viewers to better understand the way Falk lived and worked, as his ex perience is no less important nowadays.
