Zusammenfassung:"Once, during the Q&A session at the end of a conference, a reader asked Jimmi Liao, who’d mentioned during his talk that he was a very fortunate person, what his idea of fortune was. Jimmy immediately replied that to him, being fortunate meant having leeway for choice. Hearing this answer moved me to the core, I gasped in admiration at such a wise perspective. As I later asked Jimmy how he’d managed at that moment to find such a great answer right away, he said that it was not the result of an instant’s thought, but something he’d been holding inside his heart for a long time. During his illness, he was forced to face cancer in a fight that exhausted his every resource of energy, ant that left him absolutely no room for choice. If he’d had the possibility to decide what he wanted or not, if he’d had options to choose from, it would be a truly fortunate life. Having both witnessed misfortune and experienced luck, Jimmy fuses his feelings into humorous text and beautiful, rich drawings, sharing with us all sorts of bad luck hiding behind good luck, and the good fortune that’s hidden behind misfortune. Good and bad luck are elusive, like a lover’s heart, unpredictable and forever changing. Perhaps good fortune really can be summoned; if there’s no luck today, changing one’s perspective to call it again, might bring tomorrow the best of luck." (publisher’s information)
