Zusammenfassung: | "With the publication of the 1619 Project by The New York Times in 2019, a growing number of Americans have become aware that Africans arrived in North America before the Pilgrims. Yet the stories of these Africans and their first descendants remain ephemeral and inaccessible for both the general public and educators. This groundbreaking collection of thirty-eight biographical and autobiographical texts chronicles the lives of literary black Africans in British colonial America from 1643 to 1760 and offers new strategies for identifying and interpreting the presence of black Africans in this early period"-- |

spelling | The earliest African American literatures a critical reader edited by Zachary McLeod Hutchins and Cassander L. Smith Chapel Hill The University of North Carolina Press [2021] 200 Seiten 24 cm txt rdacontent n rdamedia nc rdacarrier Includes bibliographical references "With the publication of the 1619 Project by The New York Times in 2019, a growing number of Americans have become aware that Africans arrived in North America before the Pilgrims. Yet the stories of these Africans and their first descendants remain ephemeral and inaccessible for both the general public and educators. This groundbreaking collection of thirty-eight biographical and autobiographical texts chronicles the lives of literary black Africans in British colonial America from 1643 to 1760 and offers new strategies for identifying and interpreting the presence of black Africans in this early period"-- Geschichte 1643-1760 gnd rswk-swf Schwarze (DE-588)4116433-7 gnd rswk-swf Literatur (DE-588)4035964-5 gnd rswk-swf USA (DE-588)4078704-7 gnd rswk-swf American literature / African American authors / 17th century American literature / African American authors / 18th century American literature / African American authors / History and criticism African Americans / Biography / Sources African Americans in literature African Americans / Biography American literature / African American authors 1600-1799 Autobiographies Biographies Criticism, interpretation, etc Sources (DE-588)4002214-6 Anthologie gnd-content USA (DE-588)4078704-7 g Literatur (DE-588)4035964-5 s Schwarze (DE-588)4116433-7 s Geschichte 1643-1760 z DE-604 Hutchins, Zachary McLeod (DE-588)105942696X edt Smith, Cassander 1977- (DE-588)1175496995 edt Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe, ebook 978-1-4696-6561-0 Digitalisierung UB Augsburg - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=033029515&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis Digitalisierung UB Augsburg - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=033029515&sequence=000003&line_number=0002&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Klappentext |
