Zusammenfassung: | The contributors to Assembly Codes examine how media and logistics set the conditions for the circulation of information and culture. They document how logistics-the techniques of organizing and coordinating the movement of materials, bodies, and information-has substantially impacted the production, distribution, and consumption of media. At the same time, physical media, such as paperwork, along with media technologies ranging from phone systems to software are central to the operations of logistics. The contributors interrogate topics ranging from the logistics of film production and the construction of internet infrastructure to the environmental impact of the creation, distribution, and sale of vinyl records. They also reveal how logistical technologies have generated new aesthetic and performative practices. In charting the specific points of contact, dependence, and friction between media and logistics, Assembly Codes demonstrates that media and logistics are co-constitutive and that one cannot be understood apart from the other.ContributorsEbony Coletu, Kay Dickinson, Stefano Harney, Matthew Hockenberry, Tung-Hui Hu, Shannon Mattern, Fred Moten, Michael Palm, Ned Rossiter, Nicole Starosielski, Liam Cole Young, Susan Zieger |

spelling | Assembly codes the logistics of media edited by Matthew Hockenberry, Nicole Starosielski, and Susan Zieger Durham Duke University Press [2021] © 2021 1 Online-Resource (xii, 248 Seiten) Illustrationen txt rdacontent c rdamedia cr rdacarrier Description based on online resource; title from PDF title page (publisher's Web site, viewed 27. Sep 2021) The contributors to Assembly Codes examine how media and logistics set the conditions for the circulation of information and culture. In charting the specific points of contact, dependence, and friction between media and logistics, Assembly Codes demonstrates that media and logistics are co-constitutive and that one cannot be understood apart from the other.ContributorsEbony Coletu, Kay Dickinson, Stefano Harney, Matthew Hockenberry, Tung-Hui Hu, Shannon Mattern, Fred Moten, Michael Palm, Ned Rossiter, Nicole Starosielski, Liam Cole Young, Susan Zieger In English SOCIAL SCIENCE / Media Studies bisacsh Communication and technology Communication Social aspects Mass media Economic aspects Mass media History Mass media Political aspects Mass media Social aspects Technological innovations Social aspects Medien (DE-588)4169187-8 gnd rswk-swf Logistik (DE-588)4036210-3 gnd rswk-swf Medien (DE-588)4169187-8 s Logistik (DE-588)4036210-3 s DE-604 Hockenberry, Matthew Sonstige (DE-588)1242511970 oth Starosielski, Nicole 1984- Sonstige (DE-588)1082541508 oth Zieger, Susan 1973- Sonstige (DE-588)1180042417 oth Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 9781478010760 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 9781478009733 https://doi.org/10.1515/9781478013037 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext https://doi.org/10.1215/9781478013037 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext |
