Diffractive Reading represents a new reading of reading itself: first, by critiqu ing current modes of reading in Literary/Cultural Studies, in Material Culture, and in Science Studies, suggesting the new materialist notion of diffractive read ing instead; and second, by putting this notion to use in a set of readings of literary texts and other cultural media. Taken together, the volume materializes, dynamizes and politicizes the activity of reading by drawing attention to read ing’s intervention in, and “(co-)creation” of, the world in which we live.
