Zusammenfassung: | Miniaturization is a major technological driver for many industries, and provides significant advantages in addition to enhanced performance. Applications that have benefitted from miniaturization include smart phone and tablets, as well as televisions and displays. The ability to make smaller devices significantly impacts product features, including size and weight. All of these developments are enabled by miniaturization of electronic, mechanical, and photonic devices through advanced micro and nano manufacturing technologies. In this tutorial the focus will be on micro and nano manufacturing techniques that are top-down in nature. Macro scale machines are able to manipulate structures at smaller length scales, as opposed to bottom-up techniques that rely on the interaction of matter at atomic scales to form micro or nano structures. In this tutorial Dr. Tsalalakos discusses x-ray lithography; reactive ion etching; mechanical machining; micro molding; micro/nano grinding; laser-based nanomanufacturing; pulsed water drop micromachining; diamond nanogrinding; nanometric machining; optical interferometry for position control; and commercialization of micro and nano technologies |
