Zusammenfassung: | "This manual is intended to serve as the primary resource for the laboratory portion of an introductory course in structural geology for undergraduate students. It is designed to accompany any of the available structural geology textbooks. It supports both the descriptive and quantitative parts of a course at approximately the same level of detail as most of the textbooks. The book retains 17 chapters to cover the standard 12-14 weeks of a semester plus several chapters with specialized themes. The organization places most of the areas deemed necessary to structural geology in the front of the manual followed by a synthesis of most of them and then the more specialized topics at the end. One of the most challenging aspects of structural geology for introductory students is visualizing 3-dimensional structural features and objects and representing them or projecting them on 2-dimensional diagrams for analysis. This is still the case even with computer programs to solve simple to complex problems. Students are strongly encouraged to use props to help visualize the real-world features rather than trying to imagine them. The exercises are much easier to solve and the methods understood using this approach"-- |

This is still the case even with computer programs to solve simple to complex problems. Students are strongly encouraged to use props to help visualize the real-world features rather than trying to imagine them. The exercises are much easier to solve and the methods understood using this approach"-- Feldgeologie (DE-588)4153918-7 gnd rswk-swf Störungstektonik (DE-588)4183400-8 gnd rswk-swf Spannung Geologie (DE-588)4381340-9 gnd rswk-swf Strukturgeologie (DE-588)4225664-1 gnd rswk-swf Tektonik (DE-588)4059351-4 gnd rswk-swf Deformation Geologie (DE-588)4409345-7 gnd rswk-swf Geologie (DE-588)4020227-6 gnd rswk-swf Geology, Structural / Laboratory manuals (DE-588)4151278-9 Einführung gnd-content (DE-588)4143389-0 Aufgabensammlung gnd-content Strukturgeologie (DE-588)4225664-1 s Deformation Geologie (DE-588)4409345-7 s Feldgeologie (DE-588)4153918-7 s Spannung Geologie (DE-588)4381340-9 s Störungstektonik (DE-588)4183400-8 s Tektonik (DE-588)4059351-4 s Geologie (DE-588)4020227-6 s DE-604 Duebendorfer, Ernest M. spellingShingle | Rowland, Stephen M. Duebendorfer, Ernest M. Gates, Alexander E. 1957- Structural analysis and synthesis a laboratory course in structural geology In this fourth edition, the has been broadened to include a range of new content and features, including: Video content that demonstrates how to perform some of the more challenging structural geology techniques An acknowledgment of the increasing importance of environmental applications of structural geology – vital to students who may go on to pursue careers in the environmental sphere An increased emphasis on quantitative techniques, complete with descriptions of computer program applications Contingent with this quantitative emphasis, the book also outlines the limitations of such techniques, helping students to appropriately apply the techniques and evaluate their trustworthiness Structural Analysis and Synthesis is a renowned and widely recognized aid to students in grasping and mastering the techniques required in structural geology, and will find a home wherever the principles and practices of structural geology are taught.
