Zusammenfassung: | This work offers a fresh reading of Paul's appropriation of Abraham in Gal 3:6-29 against the background of Jewish data, especially drawn from the writings of Philo of Alexandria. Philo's negotiation on Abraham as the model proselyte and the founder of the Jewish nation based on his trust in God's promise relative to the Law of Moses provides a Jewish context for a corresponding debate reflected in Galatians, and suggests that there were Jewish antecedents that came close to Paul's reasoning in his own time. This volume incorporates a number of new arguments in the context of scholarly discussion of both Galatian 3 and some of the Philonic texts, and demonstrates how the works of Philo can be applied responsibly in New Testament scholarship |

Beihefte volume 248 This work offers a fresh reading of Paul's appropriation of Abraham in Gal 3:6-29 against the background of Jewish data, especially drawn from the writings of Philo of Alexandria. This volume incorporates a number of new arguments in the context of scholarly discussion of both Galatian 3 and some of the Philonic texts, and demonstrates how the works of Philo can be applied responsibly in New Testament scholarship Philo Alexandrinus v25-40 (DE-588)118594001 gnd rswk-swf Abraham Biblische Person (DE-588)118500201 gnd rswk-swf Bibel Galaterbrief 3,6-29 (DE-588)1133183182 gnd rswk-swf Bibel Galaterbrief 3 (DE-588)1069769940 gnd rswk-swf Galaterbrief Hellenistisches Judentum Konversion Philo von Alexandria RELIGION / Biblical Criticism & Interpretation / New Testament bisacsh Israel Theologie (DE-588)4027809-8 gnd rswk-swf Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 gnd rswk-swf Frühjudentum (DE-588)4071487-1 gnd rswk-swf Literatur (DE-588)4035964-5 gnd rswk-swf Abraham Biblische Person (DE-588)118500201 p Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 s Philo Alexandrinus v25-40 (DE-588)118594001 p Bibel Galaterbrief 3,6-29 (DE-588)1133183182 u DE-604 Frühjudentum (DE-588)4071487-1 s Literatur (DE-588)4035964-5 s Bibel Galaterbrief 3 (DE-588)1069769940 u Israel Theologie (DE-588)4027809-8 s Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-3-11-072192-8 Zeitschrift für die neutestamentliche Wissenschaft.
