On a daily basis, we work to help LGBTQ prisoners grow, express themselves and (most importantly) find stability while surviving incarceration. This book provokes a wide range of emotions as diverse as the people who contributed art for it. We all feel the need to find meaning and be heard, and this anthology allows for a healing and creative outlet for those who have contributed. In many cases, we work alongside people who have felt alienated from society their entire lives, with incarceration only serving to reinforce the idea that they are little more than an assigned inmate number. The proceeds from sales go directly to assisting queer, transgender and HIV+ people in prison with their financial, legal, and emotional needs--be it food, clothing, toiletries, medical bills, gender affirming items, counsel, or simply being remembered during the holidays."--#2, back cover |
