Zusammenfassung: | Are the humanities still relevant in the twenty-first century? In the context of pervasive economic liberalism and shrinking budgets, the importance of humanities research for society is increasingly put into question. This volume claims that the humanities do indeed matter by offering empirically grounded critical reflections on contemporary cultural practices, thereby opening up new ways of understanding social life and new directions in humanities scholarship. The contributors argue that the humanities can regain their relevance for society, pose new questions and provide fresh answers, while maintaining their core values: critical reflection, historical consciousness and analytical distance |

The contributors argue that the humanities can regain their relevance for society, pose new questions and provide fresh answers, while maintaining their core values: critical reflection, historical consciousness and analytical distance Art and society Arts, Modern / 20th century Civilization, Modern / 1950- Kulturwandel (DE-588)4033596-3 gnd rswk-swf Kunst (DE-588)4114333-4 gnd rswk-swf Sozialer Wandel (DE-588)4077587-2 gnd rswk-swf Bestandsaufnahme (DE-588)4144922-8 gnd rswk-swf Geisteswissenschaften (DE-588)4019838-8 gnd rswk-swf Neue Medien (DE-588)4196910-8 gnd rswk-swf Globalisierung (DE-588)4557997-0 gnd rswk-swf Wichtigkeit (DE-588)4706879-6 gnd rswk-swf Kulturwissenschaften (DE-588)4033597-5 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content 1\p (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Globalisierung (DE-588)4557997-0 s Neue Medien (DE-588)4196910-8 s Kunst (DE-588)4114333-4 s Kulturwandel (DE-588)4033596-3 s Sozialer Wandel (DE-588)4077587-2 s DE-604 Geisteswissenschaften (DE-588)4019838-8 s Kulturwissenschaften (DE-588)4033597-5 s Bestandsaufnahme (DE-588)4144922-8 s Wichtigkeit (DE-588)4706879-6 s Thissen, Judith 1962- (DE-588)1140670239 edt Zwijnenberg, Robert 1954- (DE-588)18840063X edt Zijlmans, Kitty 1955- (DE-588)1026702267 edt Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-90-896-4474-9 https://doi.org/10.1017/9789048517954 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
