Zusammenfassung: | "Inspired by the historiographical model of 'connected histories' (S. Subrahmanyam and S. Gruzinski), the volume examines the intellectual trajectories of remarkable individuals who interacted with religious discourses, doctrines or practices in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The proposed approach of 'connected religion' invites to the study of cross-cultural and 'translocal' encounters by bringing together documents that represent diverse sides of the story and by reconstructing a narrative from an external standpoint, with analytical potential. Testing the approach through specific cases of interactions between Asia and Europe, the volume explores the little-known stories of both actors such as migrants or expatriates interacting with religious discourses, and of religious leaders producing and propagating beliefs and practices. Without any pretension to exhaustivity, the variety of cases arouses questions that can be addressed to further contexts, such as: the significance of improved travels and communications for the diffusion of religious content across national, cultural and institutional boundaries; the impact of specific individuals, charismatic or not, well-established or subaltern in the reconfiguration of institutional forms of religion; or the role of the South Asian referent in legitimating the propagation of specific religious views"-- |

Without any pretension to exhaustivity, the variety of cases arouses questions that can be addressed to further contexts, such as: the significance of improved travels and communications for the diffusion of religious content across national, cultural and institutional boundaries; the impact of specific individuals, charismatic or not, well-established or subaltern in the reconfiguration of institutional forms of religion; or the role of the South Asian referent in legitimating the propagation of specific religious views"-- Geschichte 1800-2000 gnd rswk-swf Religion (DE-588)4049396-9 gnd rswk-swf Transnationalisierung (DE-588)7612596-8 gnd rswk-swf Europa (DE-588)4015701-5 gnd rswk-swf Asien (DE-588)4003217-6 gnd rswk-swf Asia / Religion Europe / Religion East and West Religion Asia Europe (DE-588)1071861417 Konferenzschrift 2015 Erfurt gnd-content (DE-588)4006804-3 Biografie gnd-content Europa (DE-588)4015701-5 g Asien (DE-588)4003217-6 g Religion (DE-588)4049396-9 s Transnationalisierung (DE-588)7612596-8 s Geschichte 1800-2000 z DE-604 Bornet, Philippe 1977- (DE-588)1037861027 edt Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe, ebk 978-1-78179-584-2 Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=032645341&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
