Summary The territorial, cultural and confessional space of the Mongolian meta ethnic community - the Mongolian superethnos - in the modem period is a diverse ethnic-Mongolian community in the People’s Republic of Chi na, the Mongolian community itself in Mongolia and two Mongolian eth nic communities in Russia. The genesis of the cultural identity of the Mongolian meta-ethnic community is the Great Steppe with a unique nomadic civilization, worldview and worldview of the nomad, who de veloped a special and specific form of ethnic psychology, nomadic men tality and traditional values. As a common cultural heritage among all the Mongolian people, the basic elements of nomadic civilization are pre served: signs, symbols, language, values, rules of a nomadic lifestyle, social norms, social sanctions, ideas about mythological and real, behav ioral norms, etiquette, customs, traditions, rituals. The huge influence of the Buddhist religious culture in its mainly Ti betan version among the Mongolian meta-ethnic community (Mongolia, Inner Mongolia of the PRC, Buryatia, Kalmykia of Russia), significant positions that the Buddhist monastic community (Sangha), which exists in the modem period, has maintained and continues to maintain Bud dhism-influenced nomads have developed historically for many centuries before. As it turns out from our research both in Russia and in Mongolia, there are two variations of Buddhism - monastic, present for the most part in its canonical classical Buddhist form and folk (ethnic), expressed in folk knowledge and competence about Buddhism as a
religious struc ture interspersed with incorporation Buddhism of pre-Buddhist elements of the traditional religious culture of the Mongolian peoples. In the daily life and in their Lifestyle of the Russian and Mongolian lay Buddhists, Customs and Rituals are considered as Buddhist and are permanently fixed. At the same time, they are undoubtedly colored by Buddhist sym bols. Symbols in this case - Buddhist, are an integral part of a creed, in which there is a short, fairly clear and accurate textual, symbolic or non verbal presentation of the foundations of faith and its main canons. Being a special component of the Buddhist religious culture, Buddhist symbols are a fairly long-established constant and serve as translators of the Bud dhist traditions, while each religious and local tradition (territory or locus) in synchronous and diachronous sections can transform and adapt them in 308
accordance with its earlier religious symbols, generally not violating ei ther syntactics, semantics, or pragmatics of these semiotic systems. Such a developed religious and philosophical Doctrine, which, natu rally, is Buddhism, has its own views on the origin of the World, its meaning, its structure and the place of a specific person in it, thereby de veloping its own worldview and worldview of the individual. The prob lem of the picture of the World, developed by such a powerful religious culture as Buddhism, meets with the traditional idea of the World struc ture of the nomadic religious Culture, forming a unique and original reli gious tradition based on the synthesis of the traditional Worldview of the Nomads of Central Asia, including Mongolian peoples. The religious and philosophical culture of Buddhism, which has uni versal significance and values, is still relevant today among the entire Mongolian meta-ethnic community (Khamag Mongol). Its consolidating, integrating and compensating functions are undeniable. However, in the modern period, it is observed that the social and cultural identification of the elite of Russia and Mongolia at certain historical moments transforms its traditional cultural mythology according to the existing system of eco nomic, social and cultural environment, naturally and evolutionarily re ducing and changing previous motivations and values, gaining many characteristics of urbanized society. As has been repeatedly emphasized by us, and noted by many re searchers, each ethnic Culture perceived and analyzed the ethnocultural
realities and phenomena of other Cultures from the point of view of its own, historically and genetically traditionally established paradigms. Such a classical directional vector is usually traditional and lends itself little to large changes. The fundamental value structures of their own eth nocultural traditions and the associated ethnic essence and manifestation, as well as ethnic, social and cultural identities, always, as a rule, act as dominant and ethno-fixing markers in the assessment and analysis of oth er cultures. As a result of it, it is assumed that the next stage of our research will be the study and analysis of specific meanings, specifics and characteris tics of canonical Buddhist ideas and practices in the Mongolosphere. In addition, future research will also affect non-traditional religious beliefs that are now prevalent in Russia and Mongolia ֊ Christianity, Islam, as well as relict phenomena of the Manichaean and Nestorian branches of Christianity. 309 |
