Zusammenfassung: | Hailed as "British dance's true iconoclast", Michael Clark is a defining cultural figure in the contemporary dance world. Since emerging in the early 1980s as a prodigy at London's Royal Ballet School, Clark has remained at the forefront of innovation in dance, working in close collaboration with a broad range of pioneering artists such as Sarah Lucas, Leigh Bowery, Charles Atlas, Cerith Wyn Evans, Peter Doig, Elizabeth Peyton, Wolfgang Tillmans and musicians such as Mark E. Smith, Wire, Scritti Politti, and Relaxed Muscle. As a young choreographer, Clark brought together his classical ballet training with London's club culture, fashion, and punk rock to establish himself as one of the most innovative artists working in modern dance. His work-variously referencing punk, rock, and pop-is marked by a mixture of technical rigor and experimentation in a way that disrupts and reimagines our understanding of dance. This book features a series of enlightening essays and vivid illustrations of Clark's best-known performances, alongside archival material. Loosely tracing the chronological evolution of his career, a variety of cultural figures- ranging from Jarvis Cocker to Charles Atlas-write about the countercultural undercurrents with which Clark's work connects.00Exhibition: Barbican Art Gallery, London, UK (12.06. - 30.08.2020) / Tramway, Glasgow, UK (Autumn 2021) |

- 30.08.2020) / Tramway, Glasgow, UK (Autumn 2021) Clark, Michael 1962- (DE-588)13891284X gnd rswk-swf Michael Clark Company (DE-588)1159409471 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1980-2019 gnd rswk-swf Ballett (DE-588)4004351-4 gnd rswk-swf Tanz Motiv (DE-588)4184440-3 gnd rswk-swf Tänzer Motiv (DE-588)4383358-5 gnd rswk-swf Fotografie (DE-588)4045895-7 gnd rswk-swf Postpunk (DE-588)7582674-4 gnd rswk-swf Contemporary dance (DE-588)1162212365 gnd rswk-swf Subkultur (DE-588)4058326-0 gnd rswk-swf London (DE-588)4074335-4 gnd rswk-swf Clark, Michael / 1962- Clark, Michael / 1962- / Criticism and interpretation Modern dance / Great Britain / History Modern dance Great Britain Criticism, interpretation, etc History (DE-588)4135467-9 Ausstellungskatalog Barbican Art Gallery 07.10.2020-03.01.2021 London gnd-content (DE-588)4135467-9 Ausstellungskatalog V&A Dundee 30.10.2021-06.02.2022 Dundee gnd-content Clark, Michael 1962- (DE-588)13891284X p Michael Clark Company (DE-588)1159409471 b Ballett (DE-588)4004351-4 s Contemporary dance (DE-588)1162212365 s Geschichte 1980-2019 z DE-604 Fotografie (DE-588)4045895-7 s Tanz Motiv (DE-588)4184440-3 s Tänzer Motiv (DE-588)4383358-5 s London (DE-588)4074335-4 g Subkultur (DE-588)4058326-0 s Postpunk (DE-588)7582674-4 s Ostende, Florence 1983- (DE-588)1052440517 edt Barbican Art Gallery (DE-588)805904-4 isb his V&A Dundee (DE-588)1183618174 his |
