Zusammenfassung: | "The spatial turn has brought forward new analytical imperatives about the importance of space in the relationship between physical and social networks of meaning. This volume explores this in relation to approaches and methodologies in the study of urban space in Roman Italy. As a consequence of these new imperatives, sociological studies on ancient Roman cities are flourishing, demonstrating a new set of approaches that have developed separately from "traditional" historical and topographical analyses. Rethinking the Roman City represents a convergence of these different approaches to propose a new interpretive model, looking at the Roman city and one of its key elements: the forum. After an introductory discussion of methodological issues, internationally-know specialists consider three key sites of the Roman world - Rome, Ostia and Pompeii. Chapters focus on physical space and/or the use of those spaces to inter-relate these different approaches. The focus then moves to the Forum Romanum, considering the possible analytical trajectories available (historical, topographical, literary, comparative and sociological), and the diversity of possible perspectives within each of these, moving towards an innovative understanding of the role of the forum within the Roman city. This volume will be of great value to scholars of ancient cities across the Roman world, well as historians of urban society and development throughout the ancient world"-- |

spelling | Rethinking the Roman city the spatial turn and the archaeology of Roman Italy edited by Dunia Filippi London ; New York Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group 2022 xiii, 252 Seiten Illustrationen, Karten, , Pläne, Diagramm txt rdacontent n rdamedia nc rdacarrier Studies in Roman space and urbanism "The spatial turn has brought forward new analytical imperatives about the importance of space in the relationship between physical and social networks of meaning. This volume will be of great value to scholars of ancient cities across the Roman world, well as historians of urban society and development throughout the ancient world"-- Spatial turn (DE-588)7648121-9 gnd rswk-swf Ausgrabung (DE-588)4129464-6 gnd rswk-swf Raum (DE-588)4048561-4 gnd rswk-swf Römerzeit (DE-588)4076769-3 gnd rswk-swf Sozialraum (DE-588)4116546-9 gnd rswk-swf Stadt (DE-588)4056723-0 gnd rswk-swf Römisches Reich (DE-588)4076778-4 gnd rswk-swf Italien (DE-588)4027833-5 gnd rswk-swf City and town life / Rome Social archaeology / Rome Social archaeology / Italy / Ostia (Extinct city) Social archaeology / Italy / Pompeii (Extinct city) Spatial behavior / Rome Spatial behavior / Italy / Ostia (Extinct city) Spatial behavior / Italy / Pompeii (Extinct city) Forums, Roman / Italy Rome / Antiquities Pompeii (Extinct city) / Antiquities Ostia (Extinct city) / Antiquities Rome / Civilization Antiquities City and town life Civilization Forums, Roman Social archaeology Spatial behavior Italy Italy / Ostia (Extinct city) Italy / Pompeii (Extinct city) Rome (Empire) (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Archäologie (DE-2581)TH000008005 gbd Roma Urbs (DE-2581)TH000010811 gbd Italien, topographisch (DE-2581)TH000010692 gbd Italien (DE-588)4027833-5 g Stadt (DE-588)4056723-0 s Römerzeit (DE-588)4076769-3 s Raum (DE-588)4048561-4 s Sozialraum (DE-588)4116546-9 s DE-604 Ausgrabung (DE-588)4129464-6 s Spatial turn (DE-588)7648121-9 s Römisches Reich (DE-588)4076778-4 g Filippi, Dunia (DE-588)1151600466 edt Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe 978-1-351-11542-1 (DE-604)BV048316584 Digitalisierung UB Regensburg - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=032499539&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis Digitalisierung UB Augsburg - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=032499539&sequence=000003&line_number=0002&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Klappentext |
