Zusammenfassung: | "Democracy and Brazil: Collapse and Regression discusses the de-democratization process underway in contemporary Brazil. The relative political stability that characterized domestic politics in the 2000s ended with the sudden emergence of a series of massive protests in 2013, followed by the controversial impeachment of Dilma Rousseff in 2016 and the election of Jair Bolsanaro in 2018. In this new, more conservative period in Brazilian politics, a series of institutional reforms deepened the distance between citizens and representatives. Brazil's current political crisis cannot be understood without reference to the continual growth of a new right-wing discourse, on the one hand, and to the neoliberal ideology that pervades the minds of large parts of the Brazilian elites, on the other. Eleven experts on Brazil across different fields discuss the ongoing political turmoil in the light of distinct problems: geopolitics, gender, religion, media, indigenous populations, right-wing strategies, new forms of coup, among others. Updated analyses enriched with historical perspective help to illuminate the intricate issues that will determine the country's fate in years to come. Democracy and Brazil: Collapse and Regression will interest students and scholars of Brazilian Politics and History, Latin America, and the broader fields of democracy studies"-- |

spelling | Democracy and Brazil collapse and regression edited by Bernardo Bianchi, Jorge Chaloub, Patricia Rangel and Frieder Otto Wolf New York ; London Routledge 2021 vii, 292 Seiten Diagramme txt rdacontent n rdamedia nc rdacarrier Routledge studies in Latin American politics "Democracy and Brazil: Collapse and Regression discusses the de-democratization process underway in contemporary Brazil. Democracy and Brazil: Collapse and Regression will interest students and scholars of Brazilian Politics and History, Latin America, and the broader fields of democracy studies"-- Geschichte 1978-2020 gnd rswk-swf Krise (DE-588)4033203-2 gnd rswk-swf Regierungswechsel (DE-588)4136252-4 gnd rswk-swf Demokratie (DE-588)4011413-2 gnd rswk-swf Brasilien (DE-588)4008003-1 gnd rswk-swf Democracy / Brazil Conservatism / Brazil Neoliberalism / Brazil Brazil / Politics and government / 2003- Conservatism Democracy Neoliberalism Politics and government Brazil Since 2003 (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Brasilien (DE-588)4008003-1 g Demokratie (DE-588)4011413-2 s Krise (DE-588)4033203-2 s Regierungswechsel (DE-588)4136252-4 s Geschichte 1978-2020 z b DE-604 Bianchi, Bernardo (DE-588)117544717X edt Chaloub, Jorge (DE-588)1219097543 edt Rangel, Patrícia (DE-588)1044501820 edt Wolf, Frieder Otto 1943- (DE-588)124703100 edt Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe 978-1-003-02100-1 (DE-604)BV047101061 Digitalisierung UB Regensburg - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=032445295&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis Digitalisierung UB Regensburg - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=032445295&sequence=000003&line_number=0002&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
