In Marks Gospel, the Shema language of Deut 6.4 is not merely reiterated in a traditional sense but reinterpreted in a striking way that links Jesus directly and inseparably with Israels unique God. Such an innovative rereading of the Shema must be understood in light of (a) various elements involved in and surrounding each of the three monotheistic references (Mark 2.7; 10.18; 12.29) relating to their respective literary contexts, and (b) Marks nuanced, complex, and even paradoxical portrait of Jesus relationship to God throughout his gospel. John J.R. Lee shows that Marks use of the one-God language implies that his Jesus is not merely one who, as a Shema-observant Jew, speaks on behalf of God but also one whose status and significance fundamentally correspond to those of Israels unique deity. |

John J.R. Lee shows that Marks use of the one-God language implies that his Jesus is not merely one who, as a Shema-observant Jew, speaks on behalf of God but also one whose status and significance fundamentally correspond to those of Israels unique deity.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="630" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Schema Jisrael</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4560367-4</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="630" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Bibel</subfield><subfield code="p">Markusevangelium</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4037658-8</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Christologie</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4010141-1</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Monotheismus</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4040107-8</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Jesus</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Identity</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Monotheism</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Schriftgebrauch</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Divine</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4113937-9</subfield><subfield code="a">Hochschulschrift</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd-content</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="688" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Christologie</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-2581)TH000005787</subfield><subfield code="2">gbd</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="688" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Testamenti Novi Evangelium secundum Marcum</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-2581)TH000003004</subfield><subfield code="2">gbd</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Bibel</subfield><subfield code="p">Markusevangelium</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4037658-8</subfield><subfield code="D">u</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Schema Jisrael</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4560367-4</subfield><subfield code="D">u</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Monotheismus</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4040107-8</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="3"><subfield code="a">Christologie</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4010141-1</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="5">DE-604</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Erscheint auch als</subfield><subfield code="n">Online-Ausgabe</subfield><subfield code="z">978-3-16-159819-7</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen zum Neuen Testament. 2.
