Zusammenfassung: | "Organised crime, corruption and terrorism are perceived as posing significant and unrelenting threats to the integrity, security and stability of contemporary societies. Alongside traditional criminal enforcement responses, there is increasing focus on following the money trail of such crime. This strategy includes anti-money laundering measures to prevent 'dirty money' from infiltrating the legitimate economy; proceeds of crime powers to target the accumulated assets derived from crime; and counter-terrorism financing measures to prevent 'clean' money from being used for terrorist purposes. Against the expanding emphasis on following the money, this collection brings together 20 emerging researchers in the field of anti-money laundering, proceeds of crime, and counter- terrorist financing measures, to offer a refreshing insight into the anti-assets strategies. The chapters include national/ comparative analysis of legal rules and procedures, historical context, empirical insights, with contributions from law, criminology, sociology, and political science. This collection deliberately adopts a much needed international and comparative approach. Alongside chapters on expected jurisdictions like the US and UK, of particular note is the emphasis on insights from the Middle East, such as contributions on follow the money measures in Qatar, Kuwait, and Iran. There are also insights from countries such as Nigeria, Germany, France, and Italy"-- |
