Zusammenfassung: | Disputation literature is a type of text in which usually two non-human entities (such as trees, animals, drinks, or seasons) try to establish their superiority over each other by means of a series of speeches written in an elaborate, flowery register. As opposed to other dialogue literature, in disputation texts there is no serious matter at stake only the preeminence of one of the litigants over its rival. These light-hearted texts are known in virtually every culture that flourished in the Middle East from Antiquity to the present day, and they constitute one of the most enduring genres in world literature. The present volume collects over twenty contributions on disputation literature by a diverse group of world-renowned scholars. From ancient Sumer to modern-day Bahrain, from Egyptian to Neo-Aramaic, including Latin, French, Middle English, Armenian, Chinese and Japanese, the chapters of this book study the multiple avatars of this venerable text type |

Ancient and Modern (Veranstaltung) 2017 Madrid Verfasser (DE-588)1220867144 aut Disputation literature in the Near East and beyond edited by Enrique Jiménez and Catherine Mittermayer Berlin ; Boston De Gruyter [2020] © 2020 1 Online Ressource (VII, 470 Seiten) Illustrationen txt rdacontent c rdamedia cr rdacarrier Studies in ancient Near Eastern records volume 25 "The volume contains the proceedings of two consecutive international conferences, in Madrid (2017) and Geneva (2018). The first, entitled "Disputation Poems in the Near East and Beyond. Ancient and Modern", was organized by Enrique Jiménez at Universidad Complutense (Madrid) on 12-13 July 2017. ... The second conference, entitled "4000 mille ans de disputes: de l'Orient à l'Occident", was organized by Catherine Mittermayer at Université de Genève on 15-16 February 2018" (Seite 7) Disputation literature is a type of text in which usually two non-human entities (such as trees, animals, drinks, or seasons) try to establish their superiority over each other by means of a series of speeches written in an elaborate, flowery register. From ancient Sumer to modern-day Bahrain, from Egyptian to Neo-Aramaic, including Latin, French, Middle English, Armenian, Chinese and Japanese, the chapters of this book study the multiple avatars of this venerable text type Geschichte gnd rswk-swf Alter Naher Osten Comparative literature Dialoge Dialogues Disputation Disputations Komparatistik ancient Near East RELIGION / Ancient bisacsh Dialog Motiv (DE-588)7612384-4 gnd rswk-swf Debatte Motiv (DE-588)1217794409 gnd rswk-swf Literatur (DE-588)4035964-5 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content (DE-588)1071861417 Konferenzschrift 2017 Madrid gnd-content (DE-588)1071861417 Konferenzschrift 2018 Genf gnd-content Dialog Motiv (DE-588)7612384-4 s Debatte Motiv (DE-588)1217794409 s Literatur (DE-588)4035964-5 s Geschichte z DE-604 Jiménez, Enrique 1985- (DE-588)1115004670 edt Mittermayer, Catherine 1975- (DE-588)129850586 edt 4000 mille ans de disputes: de l'Orient à l'Occident (Veranstaltung) 2018 Genf Verfasser (DE-588)1220867411 aut Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-1-5015-1707-5 Studies in ancient Near Eastern records volume 25 (DE-604)BV045906340 25 https://doi.org/10.1515/9781501510274 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext |
