Zusammenfassung: | "Irit Back's book From Sudan to South Sudan: IGAD and the Role of Regional Mediation in Africa comprehensively analyses the full achievements, shortcomings, and implications of IGAD (Intergovernmental Authority on Development) mediation efforts in Sudan and South Sudan. IGAD's active mediation was a primary force behind the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) between the south and the north that eventually resulted in South Sudan's declaration of independence in 2011. The euphoria of this historic achievement was, however, almost immediately overshadowed by internal strife, which has, since 2013, escalated to a large-scale conflict in the new-born nation that demanded IGAD's renewed mediation efforts. The book offers readers new insights and perspectives to apply when seeking to develop a more balanced understanding of Africa's contemporary conflicts and the efforts to resolve them. More specifically, the book will also help readers to better comprehend the potential role of regional mediation in East Africa, a region with a turbulent history in the post-Cold War era"-- |

More specifically, the book will also help readers to better comprehend the potential role of regional mediation in East Africa, a region with a turbulent history in the post-Cold War era"--</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Peace-building / South Sudan</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Peace-building / Sudan</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">South Sudan / History / 21st century</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Sudan / History / Civil War, 1983-2005 / Peace</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Intergovernmental Authority on Development</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Sudan and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement, Sudan People's Liberation Army / (2005)</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Intergovernmental Authority on Development</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Sudan and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement, Sudan People's Liberation Army (2005)</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Peace</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Peace-building</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">South Sudan</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Sudan</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">2000-2099</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">History</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Erscheint auch als</subfield><subfield code="n">Druck-Ausgabe</subfield><subfield code="z">978-90-04-40925-5</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-604)BV046813382</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">African social studies series</subfield><subfield code="v">Volume 41</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-604)BV044323423</subfield><subfield code="9">41</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="u">https://doi.org/10.1163/9789004425323</subfield><subfield code="x">Verlag</subfield><subfield code="z">URL des Erstveröffentlichers</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="2"><subfield code="m">DNB Datenaustausch</subfield><subfield code="q">application/pdf</subfield><subfield code="u">http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=032285161&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA</subfield><subfield code="3">Inhaltsverzeichnis</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-95-BOC</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="999" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">oai:aleph.bib-bvb.de:BVB01-032285161</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="966" ind1="e" ind2=" "><subfield code="u">https://doi.org/10.1163/9789004425323</subfield><subfield code="l">FUBA1</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-95-BOC</subfield><subfield code="x">Verlag</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |
