England was riven with tensions created by both religious conflict and the growing prospect of a dynastic crisis. In thisiíeh,ÍBC»vé account,Peter Lake - reveals how in Titus Ånfiomcus and Hamlet» Shâkespesae explored quintessential Tudor anxieties, including concerns about the ՜ nature ofjustice, resistance and salvation. In both Hamlet and Titus, the princes are faced with a succession forged under questionabfcr circumstances. They each have a choice: whether at not to respond with political vicíen«. The unfolding action, Lake argues, is best viewed in tenns of contemporary debates about the kfptimacy of resistance and die relation between religion and poltti«, - ■· - . -P .
